late and gay to this but in my opinion, no... Gone Girl is good and the "cool girl" speech is amazing and unforgettable...

however, I don't think the characters themselves are supposed to give an accurate, realistic insight in the male or female mind or the real world, even if it acts as a reflection and critique of heterosexual relationship dynamics and even if it's relatable to a lot of people. I think most of her stuff (like Sharp Objects, which is also quite good) has a distinct bleak, gritty and sarcastic tone that separates it from the real world.
I'd compare it to writers like chuch palahniuk or irvine welsh. The characters draw a lot from reality, but are vehicles for the message, which is what is actually applicable to our real world.

personally I found American Psycho (the book) way more impactful and actually gut churning and genuinely upsetting but also very funny.


American psycho (the movie) IS American Psycho for film women. It was directed BY a woman, unlike Gone Girl (though David Fincher is great and did a good job).

Plus it has Chloe Sevigny in it, who is the crack cocaine of IT girls for quirky women. Can vouch.

Honesly, though I also recommend stuff that has been recommended like Sense and Sensibility, Jane Eyre or Persepolis, I wouldn't really focus on it. I think it's more doable to try to understand A woman rather than women (half of the population...) and the best way to do that is getting to know her personally. But if I have to say a movie, definitely watch Daisies by Vera chytilova. Or unironically listen to Lana del rey.

I have dyslexia. I also have a history of being abused and trauma bonding in weird ways. I don't like being touched, or even really interacting with people in meatspace unless they're acquainted with me. Ever since covid my primary interaction with everyone online and irl has been through discord because it was convenient. I rarely see people these days and I'm apathetic living in a multicultural shit hole that doesn't even have a culture anymore so I opt out society. I'm waiting for balkanization of Canada at this. The money means fuck all. I will opt to recuse myself any further on the matter

If you honestly believe this is going to happen you really have spent too much time inside. Actual advice, take that money you're spending on BPD ethots and go find quality psychiatric help. That shit will take a long fucking time, but you will be better off for it.

And get a fucking hobby that involves interacting and making things, woodturning or carpentry (hell even go lift weights with someone). Getting better at making something will give you more confidence, it give you something more interesting to talk about other than e-shit and self pity and the interaction will help you be able to act in a more socially comfortable way (even on websites). What you are right now is everything you shouldn't be, either do something about it or set yourself up for a life of being treated like shit by people.

I've noticed people who can "see" feet as hands hate them more, but people who see them as a different thing aren't as wigged out.
