It makes perfect sense. Shane's extended absence after season one was because he was on a TOP top secret mission from Biden. His cyber security expertise was invoked by the NSA, FBI, CIA and Microsft to infiltrate the systems of bad actors via Xbox live exploits Shane himself developed. The information he extracted and the havoc he caused requires so much secrecy that his mind was wiped Men in Black style. For us, 6 months passed, for him it was 6 hours. For us, this story is unbelievable. For him, it's just another day in the life.

Far bigger and for far longer.

Patrick doesn't go from zero to asshole in many cases. You can challenge Patrick and get you are wrong->mild name calling-> asshole. Shame goes straight to asshole and then block once his asshole nature gets pushback.

Shame lacks any sense of stake in his online asshole nature. Patrick spent $5k to get his Twitter back AND is trying to sell books in the future/keep an AirBnB.

Shame has nothing beyond at one time a major multinational corp was writing him checks to work there and has made the fact he was a wage slave his entire persona.

At least Jackie tries to not be a wage slave, she tries to get paid as her 'own' boss. Same for Patrick - he's trying with being an author and whatever ghost post'n was. Those efforts, even if a failure, place the 2 of 'em above Shame.
