RIA news agency said at least three people in camouflage clothing had opened fire at the Crocus City Hall, and that some people had been wounded.

Police had arrived at the scene, RIA said.

Video footage published on Russian social media channels showed chaotic scenes, with a large crowd of concertgoers attempting to flee the hall, followed by gunshots.

Other video footage showed a number of people lying motionless in pools of blood outside the hall

Reuters was unable immediately to verify the footage.

TASS news agency reported an explosion and a fire in the building where the shooting took place.

The Kommersant newspaper posted footage online showing smoke billowing from what it said was the concert venue building.

Is handloading 7.62x39 over there common? It's a super cheap round, I wonder why they chose to handload. I was thinking it might have been dirty as fuck rifle with a two port douchebag break just flinging sparks.
7.62x39 is almost always steel-case (export anyway). Steel-case doesn't reload well because it's too brittle to re-shape, and there's no reason to hand-load new cases.

This reminds me, doesn't Ukraine have Chechen Jihadists fighting on its side?
There's quite a few Chechen volunteer formations fighting on the side of Ukraine. I don't think there's been any precedent of them carrying out such terror attacks but who knows.
Russian Volunteer Corps
lol unlikely

RVC mostly consists of wignats, I doubt they'd be working with churkas to kill wypipo

This could be either... A FSB inside job, ISIS aligned chechen jihadists, Russian Volunteer Corps, or Wagner members disastified with Putin.
The Russian presidential election was held recently. Wouldn't surprise me there could be people mad enough at average citizens for supporting Putin or ignoring government corruption. Could be Muslims, but I didn't hear them chanting so maybe not. It's still too early to tell.

Well...between the shit they did and still do in Syria, the shit they did in Chechnya, and lingering enmity from Afghanistan I would say enough beef to make a thousand pajeets burst into tears at the very least

And remember how much russia has been bragging about its glorious Chechnyan shock troops since the first week of the war....maybe it was not the best of ideas giving them guns and combat experience.
well russia is also very close with iran, and many jihadist have an extreme hatred for iran because of ancient sunni/shia hostility
but still, that's all old news, i don't see any immediate thing that could explain this sudden attack
like, 2015 paris attacks were motivated directly by france carrying out military strikes against isis in syria, but that was when the isis war was actually a big thing. now it isn't, the whole syria situation has kind of died down in recent years i think

supposedly the US had some sort of knowledge of this attack before it happened (which means the russians did too) (L | A)
I have a strong feeling (if related) this will be some sort of turning point for the war in Ukraine. Interested to see what happens.
Remember to WAIT before jumping to any conclusions.

Maybe this has something to do with, ya know, the two countries throwing missiles and drones at each other?

can ukraine even reach moscow with the missile weapons they have?
Not long-range missiles, but I believe I recall a drone attack hitting a government building in Moscow.

This feels more like an Islamist attack, Ukraine's been busy hitting critical components of oil refineries and this wouldn't seem to advance any of Ukraine's military aims.

We seem to have captured every unique video from this event. After sitting through all of that and seeing all the lovely Americans cheering on the mass slaughter of people who have no power or sway of Putin I now hope all of their children get drafted and are at best killed or worst mutilated in a war their parents all so badly wanted.
Its really the worst part about current day politics, people are so bloodthirsty. All they see are dirty Putlers getting gunned down so they cheer it on, Reddit is going to have a field day.

This is horrific no matter what side you are on.

Im saying it could be a justification to start using "Tactical Nuclear Missiles" or some other, bullshit.
You think they'd consider using chemical weapons?
Nuclear is not going to happen. I don't think Poland or Romania (NATO countries) enjoy radioactive fallout. If that were to occur, it think it would result in unrestricted arms shipments to Ukraine.

Chemical weapons are an outside possiblity but Russia technically isn't supposed to have any. That still will result in a slightly smaller but still large change in posture of NATO. Russia is trying to STOP more funding from Western nations, when a mother or child suffering seizures is broadcast on TV that kind of has the opposite effect.

Dude on TV posits that it could be Navalny stans or disgruntled vets.

Not sure why either of those groups would target civilians.
are navalny stans even a thing in russia? i thought most of that guys political allies were in exile, in prison, or dead

No, they're on Russia's side. There were even rumors of Ukies and the Azov Battalion putting pig blood and guts on their bullets.
There are some Chechens fighting on both sides. Russia has the Kadyrovites and Ukraine has units like the Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion, the Sheikh Mansur Battalion, the Khamzat Gelayev Joint Task Detachment and the Separate Social Purpose Battalion. I think the Russians have more on their side then the Ukrainians though, considering they have the Chechen Republic under their control.
