psychological & neurological takes both fail to see the full picture in this case even if they both lend insight. porn addiction is as real as an individual & their community finds it to be.
literally every interest changes brain structure & the reward system. porn happens to be particularly good at it as it taps into something that has been tremendously advantage for the evolutionary proliferation of humanity; the desire to fuck.
if somebody wants to dedicate their entire life to gooning, isn't distressed by the financial & social consequences, & isn't causing harm to others by doing so, all the more power to them.
if somebody can't stop gooning, and doing so starts to cause problems for the people around them or theirself, and they would like to quit- then the framing of an 'addiction' can prove helpful in changing that behavior.
how people tend to see this act of gooning, though, fundamentally relies on their ideology
*SNIFF* as to if it is or isn't a problem.
in summary: there are neurological consequences to consuming porn, just as with any other act of consumption. porn may more effectively change brain structure than other interests as it emulates an activity that is incredibly important to our species' survival. it is an objective truth that porn changes neurology, but whether or not excess porn consumption is an 'addiction' isn't an objective truth so much as a reflection of the values of the individual and those around them.
the real takeaway here is that
@Stratovorious doesn't want to give up his hourly ritual of gooning to furry muscle TF, and therefore has ideological reasons to refute that it could be an addiction.
