No matter how insane you think these people are, they will always find ways to surprise you.
"Anti-civilization" (anti-civ) has been making the rounds lately thanks to a
Musk tweet. But the term is not new. One of my
personal lolcows has been identifying with it for a while. On that note, a lot of these anti-civ people are also trans, such as this one:

Anti-civ becomes even more of an untenable position when its adherents are asked to justify it. After all, if there is no civilization, where do life-saving medicines come from? That is surely ableist against people who need those.
TL;DR We can totally have technology without a civilization to maintain CONTROL it.
What if that technology needs large amounts of infrastructure like roads?
It'll work even better without roads, trust us. Roads make us dependent on cars and for that they need to go

I do think there is a serious point to be made about why certain individuals think this way.
They focus on the negative side of human civilisation (traffic jams, forest loss, global warming etc.) but seldom think of the positive side of it, (modern medicines, centrally heated buildings, video games).
That is because they do not associate these things with the civilisation that produced them.
Their minds are so twisted by the comforts of modern life that they take those things very much for granted, such that they fail to envision that a world populated by humans could ever
not have most of these things. It probably seems intuitive to them that a few million people living in the woods like Native Americans are not so different from us. So surely they have the spare time and resources to go through all the steps required to, say, synthesise an anti-cancer drug?
And so I think people
do need to experience living in the wilderness, maybe for a week-long camping trip in childhood, not to sow the anti-civ seeds in their mind but for the exact opposite reason: so that they understand how difficult the simplest of tasks become when you're fighting the elements because you don't have access to the infrastructure a modern civilisation has, and ultimately to make sure they don't take the home comforts of human civilisation for granted.
