The fuck? How does that help the environment? Now you have a fresh set of tires and rims that's trash, you have the diesel from the towtruck and their air compressor going into the atmosphere, and nothing has changed. It's like a fruit fly ripping ass in a hurricane, it changed absolutely fuck all, but you still do it.
Hey, these people think voting matters, be kind to them ;)
Really not trying to be rude here, but do you know any parents in the US?
That's what I'm saying, the school district can't get away with extending school until 5PM to match with parent's schedules, so they intentionally design inefficient bus routes to provide "aftercare" without charging for it. It's all part and parcel with the government trying to make sure every able-bodied person can work for the corporations.

If these faggots were really concerned about all this shit, they'd do what they could to make single-earner families more realistic.

Really not trying to be rude here, but do you know any parents in the US? “What to do with the kids between school getting out and us getting home from work” is a perennial problem. Most kids are out by 3:30, so they have to let themselves into the house or go to after care if they’re too young for that.

Sounds like little Timmy can sign up for the basketball team. Two hours of practice means that you won't get done until your parents are off work, and at that age they let everyone on the team no matter how awful they are. There are any number of after school programs that don't cost parents anything extra that are better for the kids than sitting in front of a television.

If you don't live in a bughive where there are one million people, all of whom are strangers, there's probably someone in your community that could watch your kids for an hour. I can't be the only person who went over to a friend's (or relative's) house after school until my parents could pick me up some days. It's not like most of these urbanist types have children anways, so their opinions on these topics are worse even less than the usually are.

Because working hard enough to be able to afford to put your own kids in a safe private school for a good education instead of dysfunctional "diverse" public schools (where very actual learning gets done) shouldn't be allowed. Everyone's children should be forced to be put in a classroom full of poorly behaved, feral jogger and trailer trash students who make it impossible to actually learn anything.
Give your kid a .38 gun and make him ice his first nigger at age 11. That's how things should be. That's how things ought to be.

Having a dedicated vehicle, driver, and insurance for one student is the opposite of efficiency.
It all depends on what kind of efficiency they need. Packing kids in like they were transporting them to (literal) death camps is "efficient" but in bus transit specifically it should be getting kids to school and back in a timely and safe way.

Having a dedicated vehicle, driver, and insurance for one student is the opposite of efficiency.
On the contrary, it's quite efficient. A 11th or 12th grader with a car has the ability to not rely on his/her parents for extracurricular like going to sports practice, away games and the like. The kid learns some responsibility and gets a taste of real world life management. If taught well, they will learn that cars are a privileged and they best be responsible drivers to keep that privilege.

Well, since they have found the thread, may as well ask a question while I'm kinda stoned.
Yeah, I get that you want to ride a bike, you don't like cars, big truck scary, engines make loud noises that trigger your adult age waking night terrors.....that's all fun and good. Do your bike thing. You do you.

Where does your issue start involving others, and why? "oh the environment" fuck off with that, read your own forum, 98% of it is bitching about PEOPLE not the environment, you're using the eco warrior card to cover.
So why does this stop being a personal thing and start being an "involve the government to force changes to infrastructure"?
Why does it stop being "well I can just take public transport" and start being destruction of a stranger's stuff?
When does it stop being an elevate you thing and start being a lower others thing?

Let's put this in perspective with a hypothetical. The chinese have committed atrocities. Some activist people are very angry about this. So they grab your smartphone and bounce it off the pavement, making it no longer function. This hypothetical activist was a massive dick and busted something you own and paid for.

Same with damaging cars. You are some activist very angry about.....big trucks? the environment? not being able to walk down the street (never mind the streets are packed full of tents and trash). Well whatever. You're mad. You're frustrated. You look constipated. You see someone's car or truck parked, and you slash or deflate the tires, causing at best hundreds, at worst thousands of dollars in damage to someone you don't know, who has done nothing to you.

But why?

I think Jason even defended it as a way to change behavior.

The problem is when you resort to vandalism and intimidation you become no more than a terroristic thug who can only communicate in terms of violence. While this is in fact, generally effective, it also justifies every atrocity in humanity's existence and vindicates the actions of groups they claim to hate: Nazis, the Klan, etc.

But we're talking about the school's bus route. The school isn't going to give the kid a car--they would have to have a school van and driver to transport one kid.

One of these days they are gonna touch a melanated man’s prize ghetto mobile and get ventilated. Or a redneck’s prize sister fucker 3000. Same end

The thing about school buses is that kids are moving in and out of the school district constantly. That girl who lived out in the sticks; I think she might've moved before the end of the year. And even then—it's not really as rural as it used to be, because the city has grown since 1997.

Schools are especially susceptible to demographic shifts, a rush of new families move into an area, but after 10, 20 years there's less need for schools because everyone stuck around and the kids in that area have grown up and moved out, which presents a measure of volatility for bus drivers. That's not as big as an issue for public transit where there's always people to move around. And it's because of these changes, likely, why school bus routes are an outdated hodgepodge that take an eternity to move people around.

I suppose that because I was also in a semi-rural area (again, at the time, and with the district mapping), I lucked out as far as my fellow passengers went in elementary school, because that did not represent the demographic that gave the school its...scruffier...reputation.

Look at how much more space efficient trains are compared to cars:

A city is basically using quick travel for EVERYTHING. And unlike quick travel, you might get shot in the middle of it if you look at some guy wrong, because you're all stuck on that bus or train together.

At least in a suburb, people know eachother and stick to their areas. Don't trespass on their house, and life is good. You also have a good shot in court if someone breaks into your house and you break out the shotty, it's your house.
Even in Japan, (i.e. Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, some of the cities I went to) where public transit runs on time and it's so safe where you can walk a night without worrying about getting murdered by a nigger with mental issues they still have problems; Sometimes, the train operators run late, though they usually issue a public apology and get fined for this, oh and also Chikan are a BIG problem in Japan

Oh also not to mention in New York:

Funny, aren't 15 minute cities often paired with traffic "filters" that charge the equivalent of half a days wages to cross the zone by car?

Don't you want to take away car lanes and reduce streets of one lane per direction of travel thereby making travel using a car more time consuming and expensive?

Isn't this whole 15 minute thing something that is pushed by urbanists and teenagers that aren't working class?

Has it occured to you that people that work at a paper mill, oil refinery, heavy industry, etc. might not want to work within 15 minutes of their job?

Why is Jason not visiting India, specifically a working class area of Mumbai?

Density and increased ridership is good right? Diversity is good, right?

Come on, live at leave five whole years in a 250 sq ft apartment in Mumbai and take the train to work instead of WFH.

The group NJB / Fuck Cars has endorsed eco- terrorism. Just like ELF supporters are racial liberals so are you.

Earth Liberation Front (ELF) arson attack on housing in Washington state.
In New York they are beginning to implement "Congestion Pricing" where they will tax those who want to drive. Yea probably being pushed by Transportation Alternatives. In San Franscisco BART, needles and homeless are a common sight in BART not to mention fare evasion. It seems like Blue states are headed towards the route of China where airport style security is being implemented on Subways.

Also I am sure businesses will not put you on call to work at a business if you live 15 minutes from your residence... right? I am sure that the government is not gonna pull a City 17, right?

Just going to drop this here: https://ebiketips.road.cc/content/n...-restriction-to-be-trialled-in-amsterdam-5221
Archive: https://archive.is/RcLhN

Amsterdam is trialing automatic e-bike speed restriction with the ultimate goal of imposing it on all e-bikes. Every day, taking one more step towards more control.

Oh.

Every day, taking one more step towards more control.
That's the end goal, isn't it.
Start by demonizing the actual most democratic transport system;
Make people use bikes which will cut down dramatically any attempt at escaping a shithole;
Make people use only public transport, which will completely eliminate any attempt at escaping;
Stay in home, consume the Soylent Green.
All of this while making the simple act of living in the wrong country/neighbourhood, or being alive while accused of "wrongthink"* worse than a life sentence.

I hate that these useful idiots just refuse to see the bigger picture.
Just look at China's big cities lol. I would rather die than live in those glorified prisons.

*: which, by now, really means to think with one's own head.
Also go watch that movie, it's a very good movie.

The whole "Public Transit is Better for the disabled." sounds like someone who has never thought about it. For a wheelchair I imagine: Having to get to the bus, wait for the ramp, get on, hope there's a spot, get off at the train station, hope one of the elevators works, maybe even not filled with shit piss and needles, get on train, hoping for a spot again, get off train, back to bus to wherever you're going and then still have a haul from the bus stop to your actual destination. Similarly bad for people who can't move long distances. In a car you get in at your house and we have dedicated parking at most places so your walking/wheeling will be minimal and you can easily carry/transport stuff like groceries, etc.

I can't figure out if anticar people are delusional morons living in bubbles, or self-deluded Dunning Kruger effects made human.
Also as someone who has worked on railroads and spent time training on Amtrak:
These morons have no idea about railroads, especially when they seethe about Florida making the leaps and bounds CA and the Feds haven't. You want to know why the Acela runs? Why electric trains are efficient on the Northeast Corridor?
It's because Amtrak is a skin walker. Wearing the skin of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the greatest railroad in America, maybe ever, multiple other east coast rail lines, and the passenger services of the big freight companies. They are wearing the electric lines thin because PRR had such fuck you money they could put an electric line from Boston to DC and wrap it around god knows how many lines for freight rail. But you want to know what happened? Conrail, a government endorsed entity that couldn't make costs and pulled the lines down on freight lines for cheaper diesels. And America is not like the East Coast, so they never got convenient passenger rail, or anything that was not steam or diesel. It also wasn't convenient for them, and before you blame muh rail companies, how about the fact that America isn't some Eurotrash nation the size of Luxembourg. In short, Amtrak is an incompetently run government body. Conrail was slightly better but kneecapped the electric freight lines. Both only existed because private rail companies like Brightline could get shit done and had the money, which Amtrak has redtape and a skeletal budget.
