The US Government has no right to free expression. That is for the citizens, and citizens don't get to fly flags at US embassies.

The only flags which should fly at an embassy are one's own country's and a smaller, lower one of the host country. Anything else is just tasteless and crass. This is international diplomacy, not twitter stickers. [One exception, if you are currently declaring war with the country, your embassy should fly the Jolly Roger.]

I hate to disappoint or horrify you, but the oral arguments in Missouri V. Biden (now renamed "Murthy v. Missouri" for extra confusion) indicate Roberts, Barrett, and Kavanaugh think otherwise.
I expect by the end of this month 200 years of precedent are about to be wiped out based on the exchange I listened to in favor of a standard that includes "the government's right to free speech".

Everyone on the right was spending so much time during that cycle mocking Jackson they either didn't bother to or didn't want to address just how receptive Roberts and his toadies were to her pleas for the rights of the government to create a "ministry of truth".

The problem isn't so much 'the government has the right/no right to free speech' as it is 'does the government have the right to influence private organizations to compel or censor speech?'.
Which should be a no brainer, especially in light of prior established decisions, but y'know, Clown World.
