Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

To think that I actually used to enjoy Jimbo's Jimquisition videos. I even stuck longer than I should during the troon saga. But the videos just became... repetitive. Customer advocacy changed into stuff about diversity, which frankly I couldn't give a fuck about, and every time they had to remind us how they are trans, or how much cock they gobbled, etc etc.

I remember an actually good Jimquisition video, or I remember it as such, in which they praised a Fallout character for being gay, but being gay was a part of the character and not his entire personality, which made the character more believable. Well, Jimbo, being trans has turned into your entire personality.

And poor Jonathan, he seemed like a nice guy. Very woke, but never struck me as the insufferable type, and now his wife is cucking him.

Jim talks about something relevent for once, the caveat? He just uses it as an excuse to wheel out his usual "microtransactions bad" argument, from what I've seen in online discussion the poor optimisation and single save file are far bigger concerns for people and he you don't hear a single word about that.

Didn't even know the game has microtransations.

Been listening to a videos over the weekend discussing the game and outside of the issues that you mention no mentions of microtransactions either.

So he played Dragon's Dogma 2 for 15h, yet still didn't bother to check the dlc page to confirm that the shit he is parroting is factually incorrect? Peak example of journalism.

For those that haven't been following the DD2 drama. There is a microtransaction item (Portcrystal) that you can buy for real money that works as a fast travel destination, you place it in an area and now you can chose the area as the fast-travel destination. (This item can also be found by playing the game normally)
However, to actually teleport in-game you need a consumable item called "Ferrystone", which can be purchased in-game, received as quest rewards, or found by exploring the world. This item CANNOT be purchased as a DLC microtransaction.
The whole "pay to fast travel" is an incorrect statement that has been spread on twitter and youtube by retarded people. And this statement is literally the main thesis statement of his video, which goes to show how incompetent he is.
You could actually criticize the microtransactions without lying, if you did the bare minimum research on the subject.

single save file
For real? A single save file in a fucking RPG? That's insane if true. It's a shame there's not some video game commentary guy who could tell us about these things...

So it's the same thing Capcom have been doing with their games for ages, then. Like how you can buy the upgrade tickets for weapons in the Resident Evil games, or you can just earn them easily while playing the game.

I guess if I had a truly raging hard-on for microtransactions as a concept I could get upset about this, but it's not like Ubisoft artificially increasing the grind in AC Odyssey then offering to let you pay $10 bucks for a reasonable rate of XP.

It's more like buying Red/Gold orbs in DMC5. It's items that you can just grind an area for if you're truly desperate for them, but otherwise will find plenty throughout your playthrough.

It's not excusable, but it's very weird to bitch about considering you can do full playthroughs without even knowing they exist, and the game has way more pressing issues that should be focused on instead.

I put 29 hours into dragons dildos 2 before refunding it. I have 400 hours in the PC version of the first game alone with about 200 on the ps3 version ontop of that.

The biggest issue with the games are NOT the micro transactions, Capcom have done this for pretty much all their games in the last several years dating back to monster hunter world, Capcom are scum for doing this and just like MHW, DD2 has far bigger issues.

The performance is dogshit on lower end systems, I have pretty much the best specs computer and don't suffer from it but also do notice how shit intown runs (which is apparently tied to the CPU not gpu for some reason) even with a 7950x3d I notice so much NPC spawing and popping in sometimes stutter when running too fast through the main part of town.

But my biggest issue with the game is just it's not very good, it's not an upgrade at all over the first, the story is worse, the zone is far larger but does nothing with it and also makes traveling worse because of how much of it needs vertical exploration to traverse, there is nothing really improved with the combat, most the enemies are the same id say about 30% are new at most, the character creator is flawed, the armor system is a downgrade.
Basically it feels like an early access game especially given it's planned DLC

Jim is fat and gross

Unfortunately that is the consequence of the game industry's constant escalation of sleazy monetisation. Easy fatalities are bad and should be treated as bad, but now it's just a simple ripple in the shit wave.
I can't pretend to get too upset about this tbh. It'd be one thing if you had to buy the fatalities to be able to do them in the game, but if retards are too inept to learn a simple button combo and want to pay money to see something they could look up on YouTube that's a them problem.

I view that as the same kind of exploitative as the insane mark-up on snacks at the cinema. Yes, it's outrageous a bag of Starburst is five or six bucks, but it's also outrageous that you're too retarded to buy snacks beforehand and take them in with you.
