ARCA is a legitimate series with plenty of self-funded teams. The car he is renting is from another team who uses those proceeds to fund their own competitive car. ARCA is also a minor-league of sorts where many drivers get their starts before moving up to the more prominent series.

It's the training wheels of NASCAR. Even F1 drivers and rally drivers that want to become NASCAR drivers do a season of ARCA to get used to the rules, speeds, and "the feel" of the race itself.

However, the way that Cody Dennison goes on about ARCA you'd think it was NASCAR just typo'ed. My thinking is, this guy had a dream of "goin' fast". Very much the Ricky Bobby plot, and he found a way to be a stockcar racer, without having a multi-million dollar racing team behind him.

I'd consider it noble, if not for the fact that he clearly isn't comfortable at high speeds and he probably thought the CRUISIN' USA arade cabinet at Pizza Hut was a racing sim.

Earlier, Camelot was a Nick Rekieta hanger-on, sometimes furry and vtuber stalker. For a while, Camelot was Nick's #1 minion. Nick put advertising on Camelot's race cars first. But Nick is too busy to play with Camelot right. Between his drinking and his teen girl eating disorder, he is just too busy. Camelot got introduced to Cecil through Nick as well.

When Ethan and Nick were interacting over going after Eric July, Ethan noticed Camelot and Camelot noticed Ethan. Camelot is really good at romancing weird middle-aged men. Camelot wasn't satisfied with crashing in very minor league races and wanted to buy his way up into ARCA races.

Being morons, the comicsgate audience loved the idea of combining car racing, toy cars, cyberfrog and giving Ethan cash to gamble with in Atlantic City (what he calls "pie money" I think). They gave Ethan $120,000 for all this so far. Oh and Ethan reprinted one of his comics as part of the campaign too which is what makes it comicsgate.

IIRC that's how he conned Rekieta into paying for the cars he proceeded to wreck. That's probably how he got in the room with Tim Pool as well. No telling what other Youtubers will have their logos on future Coomobiles.
