No article yet as this just happened, but could be big. One of the largest bridges in the world according to Wikipedia.

Boat collisions near settlements can have a huge number of casualties regardless of whether, or not they actually hit shit that's actually in those settlements. The most famous case of this is also the worst one which happened in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1917 when a boat carrying a fuckton of explosives crashed into another one. The resulting blast literally destroyed the entire town, killed over 1,700 people, injured 9,000 more, and was the largest manmade explosion in history at the time.

I'm just hoping that in addition to the people on the bridge being okay, the boat itself wasn't actually carrying dangerous shit like it was back then because holy shit if it was, things could easily get a helluva lot worse.

Man, my whole life bridges have always made me feel uneasy and this seriously does not fucking help, lads.
Bridges are mathematically sound and safe to use, thank thousands of years of architecture.

What isn't safe is (most likely minorities) driving the fuck into them. Hope rescue can save as many people as possible, I can't even imagine how a fuck up like that can happen.

$20 says a nigger was involved.
Won't take that bet, good sir. Think it'll go to the judges.

Wonder how the ship ran into the bridge.
Better footage. Ship clipped one of the supports and it just went down like a house of cards.

Apparently no communications from ship. Big IF but if this was some weird attack, I'd think they'd pick a time which had more traffic on it.

ETA, may have been 20 construction workers on it at time.

ETA much later. Apparently were calls of mayday and it helped clear bridge. Last I saw only 6 people missing.

Apparently only ten cars on the bridge according to early reports. I guess it's lucky this didn't happen during the day.

“Francis Scott Key bridge”. Boy I can’t wait for the “Floyd best nigger that ever lived featuring micheal Obama’s dick and ru paul twerking” bridge to be rebuilt in its place. Half the size though. Nigger cities are all detroit-ing.
White flight to zoom

And thus begins the game of everyone hunting for any piece of news on who the fuck was at the wheel to settle down the "guess the race" bet.
Im gonna go against the grain and bet on white male, simply because steering a steel container cargo ship doesn't seem like a job that would attract many women and because it seems too high on the competency totem pole to have too many blacks, if im wrong i'm blaming DEI hiring practices
Put me down for yellow. Lots of Asians work as sailors so it wouldn't be surprising if it was a Chinese guy at the helm.

Honestly I wouldn't want to pick up the phone either if I fucked up this badly.

It looked like they stopped traffic before the collapse. But it also looked like there was a crew working on the bridge. Here's hoping the casualties are minimal.
The four flashing, stationary cars were there well before the ship. Nighttime road workers, by my guess. But I don't think traffic was stopped as there were still cars that crossed moments before impact. The lack of traffic is probably just from this being in the middle of the night.
