The child is a stepchild from Joshy's previous marriage, her mother tragically died in an accident and Joshy was left as her sole guardian. And he is not of sound mind, nor was his girlfriend Lauren/Zena. The poor kid got the evil stepparent experience from BOTH parents. It's likely a reason why they could treat her like shit aside from being horrible parents in general - it's not their biokid, it's their inherited servant in their eyes. Poppy would be the type to have a golden child then shit on any others he had & force them to compete for his attention, and Zena likely would too if she wasn't so lazy.
