If you read the court documents it's pretty funny, they're arguing that the plastic horse dicks are artistic sculptures and therefore under some special copyright law.

Remember, this isn't just "the jury will have to compare these two animal-themed dildos." One of the defenses for any non-fantasy animal designs used will be "we used real animal penises as reference, which are un-copyrightable." Which means that, as evidence, photographs of real animal penises will likely be submitted. Possibly from multiple angles, in order firmly establish that they're based on reality.
Hell, for the fantasy animals like dragons they may say "it is a common feature in fantasy art for dragon cocks to have x, y, and z feature we used," which would involve the submission of dragon bestiality pornography as evidence in order to prove it, and since the defense would likely be that it's common for them to look like that, they'll need to submit enough of it to establish just how common it is.
