My completely unfounded assumption was that it had something to do with his announcement to move to Japan and do the JET program. It's possible that his mom and/or brother tried to talk him out of it and got upset that he was throwing away his cushy lucrative sales job for a pipe dream bound to worsen his life even if he does get accepted.

There are so many kinds of women that point no. 1 is very subjective.
