Having a gay, black, or whatever else character in a game doesn't put me off. If I hover my mouse over the thumbnail and see "female protagonist" or "LGBTQ+" as one of the top tags, that will turn me off. If that's the most important thing in your game, if that's what stands out most to players, then it's probably not worth playing.

The sad thing is that sometimes it's nearly irrelevant that the tag is there and its just loonies fixating on it, cause like there is some good shit with "female protagonist" as one of its top tags such as Nier Automata or the Atelier games, not saying this because I am a weeb I haven't even touched the Atelier games I just have heard from friends that they are actually pretty good and comfy rpgs. Meanwhile for LGBTQ+ most of the things I can see when I look at that tag just wind up ranging from indie shit to Life is Tumblr to actually good stuff like VA-11 Hall-A, I actually checked real fast on steam to see what would pop up for that tag outta curiosity and funnily enough it was recommending me to buy the H3 dlc for Payday 2.

In general I think it is more just a sign of what kinds of people are playing that game rather than any indicator of the game's quality, at least when it comes to female protagonist, I legit only saw one good thing when looking at LGBTQ+ and I scrolled for a fair bit. Actually I think I need to bleach my eyes due to some of the shit I saw on that one.

If a game looks genuinely interesting, like Paradise Killer or Kathy Rain, I usually don't bother looking at the tags. The user generated tags offer some insight into the community that enjoys them and whether I actually want to be even remotely associated with them.

Honestly, only thing crazy about the video is the fact that it's one of his Janny's that did it.

I work in the industry and have had to take a couple trips out to CA for onsite stuff and I can confidently say it's a shit show. I genuinely don't see how someone can live there and cope anymore, it's just too fucking expensive. I was there for maybe 1 1/2 weeks at the longest and even with all the corporate discounts and "free services" places literally have to offer, the trip still cost $3.5k, and this was mid tier logging without a rental car. One thing you'll notice is that the entire place is propped up on immigrant labor and families who have lived in the same homes for multiple decades due to rent control/getting in before the fall.

With the post-pandemic rise in remote work, a lot of people could live just about anywhere else. The $8k/month "starvation wages" really put into perspective just how alien of a place CA is. That would make for pretty comfy living in most parts of the country. Is it CA that also has the $25/hr minimum wage for fast food workers? Unless you work for a tech giant like Meta, where you get paid to go to adult daycare every day, I can't imagine wanting to live there and just scrape by when you could be living comfortably somewhere else.
