Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

DMC and Bayonetta are "Spectacle Fighters". I kinda like that one. It is accurate.
Thank you, Yahtzee. I prefer "character action" but don't have any interest in the genre anyway. Let me play how I want to play, game, don't force me into combo chains.

Edit: FWIW, I find the idea overly long button combinations in fighters to be obnoxious and bad game design. The original ones in SF2 were relatively short and made sense for the moves they were making, I that after awhile the genre stopped seeing the forest for the trees.

I am curious how Nintendo will handle the follow ups to Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Mairo Cart 8.

Smash Bros has pretty much every character, level, game mode you can think of. Plus you can customize the rules, what power ups you can use, ect.

Mario Cart 8 has 96 tracks if you count the DLC.

I'm no good at them, but I keep trying them. At least they started adding easier modes.
Im glad they did that because it's a hard as hell genre.

SSB is an easy one. Cut some of the DLC characters and clones, then add more new ones. Bring back fan favorite stuff like story mode and trophies. Throw in a new twist to the gameplay and it's good to go.

MK just needs a new gimmick and refined gameplay. I wish they'd revisit DD.

More sword characters.

True, but WWE and UFC are not exactly the same fighting games as the ones you mentioned either. There's even a significant distinction between 2D & 3D fighters. I'd say Smash has more in common with Street Fighter than WWE does, and arguably more than Soulcalibur (Smash has more of a focus on combos than Soulcalibur does and is 2D like SF).
Notice the keyword "most" in most WWE and UFC games, because I never specified all of their games. Also. Smash is, again, a party fighting game, the same with some WWE and UFC games. Smash only had in common with Street Fighter because of a couple characters being used in the roster, but not as an actual fighting game with different combating system
I really do want Crono though...
That's sadly a never ever. People keep clambering for Geno in Smash, but that's a never ever

If this was the 90's I might have bought that logic, but now-a-days straight men have no issues playing girly shit.
Case in point:

Totori no Atelier Arland no Renkinjutsushi 2 DX.jpg71lBqt5MddL._AC_SL1302_.jpg71OlZhNRftL._AC_SL1302_.jpg

I do wish the Atelier games were translated beyond English so I could gift them to my relatives, the language barrier is certainly not negligent for text-heavy games like these.

They're also optional for a good reason.
Yes. People that played fighting games got pissy they could not turn them off. The FGC wanted the game to be something it was never intended to be.

This is why I will never take competative Smash serious. Because it should be played with all the hazards and items as was intended. Except perhaps the bombs that just explode the screens. Games would be way more interesting if they had to learn how to and play dealing with those.

Competitive Smash tournaments could require players only use their foreheads to actuate a DDR mat so it looks like they're praying to Allah at hyperspeed and it wouldn't affect me in the slightest. I can't imagine caring how other people play video games.

Competitive smash players being stinky neckbeards do give gamers a bad name tho

This does not prove guys are ok playing girly shit. It proves they will play games in which the girls you are looking at has giant tits and games clearly designed to attract them as an audiance.

Or that they’ll play Mario games with a Peach skin. New Peach game is not very girly at all.

They are not playing games about ponies or fashion

I don’t and most other people don’t either which is why Smash as competative is almost non exsistant and has been the same players for decades.

I’m just pointing out that if played as the game is designed the best players wouldn’t be that good. And it is rather funny to see them try and act like Smash should be taken seriously as a result of them turning off 2/3 of the game.

It amazes me when people talk about how great of a game Melee is, then turn off 80% of the characters and stages.
It is a great game, but those people only play a small portion of its content.

People who complain about SSB players are more annoying than the players themselves could ever be. It's literally just another way of playing, programmed into the game.

It'd be like sneering at someone for turning off the timer and adjusting the speed from default in Street Fighter. Maybe just don't give a shit? I've never touched those options in SF but if someone does, ok.

Is Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max still a great game if you only play VS and main just one character, ignoring over 80% of the game?

Items are fun in a casual free-for-all but not for a 1v1 unless you're playing a casual who sucks at video games and so you're not gonna really try. Why would I want a random heal item to drop for me or my opponent if we're actually trying to win through skill?

It's good they can be toggled because it's fun to play with and without them. It's really autistic to hone in on items needing to be on just as much, if not more, than preferring them off.

Personally, I would say it’s reboot time.

Smash is a bit more obvious. Many characters could really use a revamped move-set. Lowering the character count would be a great way to go back and fix them up as characters like Mario have a move-set stuck in 2002. Lowering the count may also allow them to build a new story mode a la Subspace as a potential 2nd avenue to really push Smash into a different direction. It is weird, Smash has tons of ideas that were completely abandoned such as Smash Run, custom moves, Subspace, Adventure Mode, Break the Targets, etc.. Going back to any of these would be a good way to make a distinct entry that isn’t Ultimate 2.0. To go absolutely crazy, they could make the next entry 3D.

With Mario Kart, the biggest avenue would obviously be Nintendo Kart. Personally, I think a single player campaign like Crash or Diddy had would be a good next step. They could also try Double Dash again, maybe?

IDK, both these franchises seem tired. I think the Switch entries left the perfect avenue to completely change things. Both games feel like conclusions to a decades long story and any added material to them will lack the same appeal of the previous as they drag out what should have been a special occasion.
