Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Kremenchug hydroelectric power station was hit in the morning. Ukraine is on its way to lose all its power. Looks like Russia has had enough and is turning the lights out. Link

The Krivoy Rog thermal power plant, one of the largest in Ukraine, was set on fire after a night of bombing, which is still ongoing right now. Link

In the past several days nearly all major hydroelectric power plants have been bombed at least twice in the Ukraine, leaving the Kiev hydroelectric power station, the Kiev pumped storage power plant and the Dniester PSPP. The Ukraine's gas storage facilities, the largest in Europe, have been hit several times over. If and when all power facilities are bombed and made inoperative, a Russian offensive will come soon.
Zelensky is claiming late May to early June of a Russian offensive.

CNN makes claims, their source provides no evidence

“Russia’s security services knew of ISIS threat before concert attack, new evidence from investigative body suggests”

Well the US media has claimed the FSB was behind the 1999 apartment bombings and despite my acceptance of those claims further review shows little evidence for that so it’s not new. The media was exploited as a global propaganda tool long ago.

Well we got some great news today or rather yesterday. https://iz.ru/1673034/2024-03-28/putin-nazval-istrebiteli-f-16-zakonnoi-tceliu-dlia-rossii

The man has officially declared it himself that if F-16s are used in NATO countries to target Russians in Ukraine those airfields will get destroyed. We never had any confirmations before about that issue but now we do.

With Runways bombed in Ukraine and you cant use them in NATO countries, can you land these aircrafts in grass fields and let fuel and ammo trucks find their way to them? Can they take off on grass fields? These are serious questions now.

Takeoff and Landing would be, at best, a longshot gamble every time. unless its been machined, a seemingly flat stretch of field is full of peaks and valleys, anyone who's hiked off trails will know that. Your going to be beating the absolute shit out of the landing gear, and at those speeds there's a good chance it breaks and collapses on landing, and on takeoff you are at serious risk of something going crunch, or bouncing hard enough that you drive the wing ordinance or tip even into the dirt, at attempted takeoff speeds.

You could bring out machinery to shave off the ground enough to make it less suicidal, but then your setting up a new permanent airfield - It'd stand out like any other field, and be just as easily cratered. I dunno how good Russia's intel of the Ukrainian interior is, so maybe it'll work for a first launch but once they know where abouts to look, its gonna get bombed again.

I dunno if the F16 can operate reliably in those conditions, but even if we assume that the answer is "Yes, but...", you're going to be putting in a lot of extra maintenance hours per air hour to keep up with the extra abuse. More maintenance, less flights, less impact in the war. Or, run them into failure and have a week of overuse, then nothing as shit starts to fail.

I would like to remind you that a Ukrainian border guard recently made a video showing how he shoots Ukrainian citizens fleeing mobilization to Romania on the Tisa River.

Alright, that does it for me. I am becoming, sometime in the future, a fifth column for the russkies. Fuck these people, fuck sending them money, fuck being threatened being sent there to protect the precious Bandera legacy. Jesus...I've become a traitor, simply by refusing to cheer on subhuman wannabe civilized scum.

Sounds like the sort of thing you could very easily detect with satellite photography. Just have a computer compare before-after and flag any section with suddenly appearing brown rectangles.

I have a feeling you’re far from the only one. NATO are going to be in for a nasty surprise when they manage to start their world war.

F-16s can't operate off grass. The only reason they are an option at all is because there is a lot of them and they are being superceeded by more modern planes. So they might as well get blown up in Ukraine. The plane itself is the combination of US experience in Vietnam. So is their reluctance to send troops. They know they'll get a lot of coffins back and public opinion will sour very quickly. Ukrainian flags on twitter will turn to peace signs etc. Trump's re-election can't come soon enough. The russians know this too, so they ar trying to grab as much land as they can before they have to negotiate in good faith. And those negotiations can in part be for more territory btw.

As well you might, they can only be correctly spelled in the Cyrillic alphabet anyway. Any transliteration into an inferior alphabet will lose some sound or other,
Lol! “Inferior alphabet”

You can say a lot about the good ol A-Z, but at least it’s user friendly.

Cyrillic isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Learning it, and have gotten to the point where I can recognize many words but goddamn… Did you really have to cram all those letters in there?
because alphabets evolve along with the languages that use them. The modern Latin alphabet evolved along the Romance languages, which is why English spelling is often kludgy, and the poles have to go to ridiculous extremes to cram all the sounds their language uses into a far too constrictive alphabet for it.
As long as the letters you use make a more or less comprehensible sound, your transliteration was successful.
True about the Poles. It’s ridiculous how many consonants they can pack in a word with just one or two vowels. And they’ve already customized the Latin alphabet as far as it can go with lord knows how many umlauts and gay dashes.

You answer your own question. We have as many letters as we need. Fewer technically, but there are ways around that. If you want to complain you needn’t look as far as Polish, English already has this issue. You lot could really do with at least three more: schwa, thorn, and eth (Dutch ij, and Icelandic þ and ð respectively). Egregiously, schwa is your most common vowel, yet you have no letter for it! In my experience native speakers aren’t even aware of its existence!!

Anyway, learning the cyrillic block letters isn’t so bad. Keep reading and it’ll come naturally. It’s the cyrillic cursive, which we use for handwriting anything remotely long, that you will struggle with. The word лишишь is a fun one to start with.

BTW all discussion of which alphabet is superior is pointless. It's just a tool and as all tools has a precision limit. neither latin nor cyrillic represent all of the sounds found in the language, you have to study the spoken language. yet there is no shortage of litrate people using either script. script reform fixes things temporarily. case in point modern russian with silent consonants etc.

Well would you look at that, they are accussing a goverment of letting a terrorist attack happen on their own people despite knowing beforehand.
Just don't ask questions about 9/11 or any school shooting because then you're a conspiracy theorist
