Problem, reaction, solution.
The ship crashing was out of their control, but the people that are in charge know there's always a grift to be made here. It helps when decades of money that were earmarked for infrastructure maintenance all went to their pockets. It's not hard for them to whip up this scary sounding lol at and demand that Congress pushes a bipartisan bill worth a ludicrous amount of cash to stop this from happening again. They know how little people pay attention after the bill is signed and then all the money can trickle back to them over time.
It's happened before and it will happen again.

I didn't know that a boat even crashed into it until I got on here that day. I didn't hear my news report that a boat crashed into it until probably the end of the day, they just kept saying it collapsed.
I swear that the video they showed may have even cropped out the boat, but I also may not have been paying proper attention cause I was focused on the bridge itself.

From an engineering standpoint, "fracture critical" is the difference between everyone on the section that got hit dying and everyone on the entire bridge dying. Ideally, large bridges have some redundant support so that, in the case of catastrophic damage, if one section falls then the entire bridge doesn't immediately collapse killing every soul on it. Its about damage mitigation.

pretty sure a truss bridge like the Baltimore one can't survive any one component failing even when new. something about stress placed on the trusses leading to a chain reaction. i could be wrong.

in general the democrats fucked themselves by putting up conservative democrats vs a liberal republican. almost literally reversing what people liked about clinton vs bush. the fact they did it twice shocks me. by the numbers and data 1994-2006 was the time when most of the country agreed on most of the things, at least by the time they got to the voting booth or poll takers.
It wasn't just video games either, the anti-reagan types in the 80s on college campuses were finally being told to shut the fuck up once clinton got in office and people like the kike or mrs.gore didn't get the memo. The same way people on the right could admit romney and mccain sucked once trump got in power, only imagine if those two fucks were the faces of the 2024 ticket.
movies like PCU and tv shows like the Man Show or Married with children's "no maam" were notable responses to the lefties of the pre-clinton era who fucked over any shot of progress for a long time. what we were seeing was the moderates winning an internal war. a lot of our favorite media especially in childhood was a response to the stuff confinement of the left and right. there's a reason they call woodstock 1999 a neo nazi rally on netflix now. that entire era was a high water mark in terms of freedom of speech being used to its logical extent. the fun awesome bigotry of the internet up until gamergate was inspired by the same thing happening in front of our eyes in the late 90s and early 2000s, You could mock blacks all you want for the same reason Star Trek could have people talking about the charming negress answering the phones back in the 60s; the future is so free of guilt that words that would be offensive are as antiquated as calling someone a sapien or earthling.

CNN still has videos up of when they tacitly supported the movement to get electors to vote for Hillary when their districts went to Trump. Tapper even admits that Hillary's campaign manager, John Podesta, supported it and went as far as having the electors called in for "security briefings." Tapper even does air quotes with his fingers when he says it, lol.

The same people throwing a fit over Trump and Jan 6th were literally RP'ing a 2nd Civil War if they lost 2020.
Don't believe me just read from the horses own mouth: Podesta was put in place of Biden for a wargaming of 2020 election in July 2020, and in scenarios where Biden lost both popular and electoral votes he doubled down and just threatened full a West Coast secession unless either Trump gave up or demands such as splitting California in 5 new states and statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico were given.
Come November they will do this. There will be ballots coming out to be counted well into December, and they will simply refuse to accept Trump's 2nd term. The only way I can see for a disaster to be avoided is if they collapse to infighting before or the economy implodes before and makes them unable to pay their troops.

They would do the same shit as Jan 6th by setting up a protest and having their people there to false flag the fuck out of it. Unlike Jan 6th they wouldn't have the issues of the masses that came thinking it is a legal protest and a honest show, they would be fully drunk on the kool-aid and ready for a fight (like they wanted the MAGA people to be) because commies believe in revolutions from the top down, unlike the conservative/liberal MAGA who see it as ground up.
