Born too early to go to the stars
Born too late to make discoveries
Born in just the right time to witness Jim Metokur

That medical section and the talk about his life goals depressed me a bit. If it was me I'd crumble under the question "why me". I still feel that way for Jim cause he's really undeserving but I really like his stellar attitude of "fuck that". I should learn from this man, he is a once in a generation for everything, from entertainer to role model.

Jim sounds like he has some weird neurological disease that would be discovered decades after being in the grave. My bet is a chemical imbalance that induces an autoimmune reaction that has, over time, left him crippled in a Stephen Hawking fashion. If Jim is able to communicate smoothly despite his fucked up heart and lungs, the part of his brain that allows for talking hasn't deteriorated yet. A lot of it sounds like ALS, but Jim's doctors don't even believe that's it. Strange case, strange world. Dismiss this idea, readers; it's pretty much armchair general practitioner.
EDIT:
Hawking lost his voice because he caught pneumonia during a trip to CERN in 1985. Has Jim debunked the idea of him possibly having ALS?

Has anyone noticed that Metokur's streams have been a lot darker than they remember?

I think the reality of his situation has darkened his outlook. The Ralph stream where he talked about Ralph beating Meigh was dark as is his most recent stream.

I think Metokur has become somewhat bitter. Not that I could blame the man for this. If you have something like an incredibly painful cancer happen to you it will darken your outlook.
I would be bitter and angry too if I was dying a horrifically painful death at 43.

That's really easy to detect and really known and if he had that they'd already know it. It's a stutter where an otherwise normal repetition of DNA results in the gene expanding and repeating vastly over and over again, to the point that instead of generating a useful protein, it generates a protein that guarantees fatality.

They know those. They can detect those. So he has something else. Or he's lying. I don't believe that. But I can never rule it out. He's doing everything someone would do if they thought they were actually dying, though.

Man, I was always wondering how sick he was, and I am honestly shocked. It really is strange not a single doctor can figure out what's going on with him
Not strange at all. Fibromyalgia, as an example, is nothing more than an unexplained, generalized pain in muscle and connective tissue. Some of it is psychosomatic and munchausen, but a lot of it is real and etiologically not understood. I don’t know why there is this perception that modern medicine and science has it all figured out. That is not even remotely true.

All that aside, I hope someone kicks Ralph’s face in until he is dead, left writhing until his demise in the dirt roads of Mexico. Doxing a guy’s doctor because of internet beef is some of the lowest tier scum, bottom feeder shit.

Something occurred to me while I was watching tonight's stream, does Jim have multiple sclerosis? His symptoms sound similar enough, and new research came out that indicates MS is caused by Mono, wherein people affected by the disease have immune cells that will confuse an EBV protein called EBNA1 for a myelin protein called CRYAB and continue attacking the misidentified myelin proteins. It'd explain why Jim's eyeballs are rolling around in his sockets and why his hands don't work properly, it would also explain his bone breakage since MS is associated with low bone density as well.

That's why it's often called a "garbage can diagnosis." It's just for idiopathic (meaning a pathology unique to the person) for some claims of pain unique to the individual with no objective connection to any identifiable condition. Sometimes these idiopathic conditions are bullshit. Sometimes their causes are completely unknown and yet people die from them.

Not to get too pedantic, but idiopathic means occurring with no known causality, not a uniquely individualized occurring condition.

Also multiple sclerosis is linked to heart attacks, which is one of the symptoms that Jim mentioned.

That's not too pedantic, you just corrected me about something I was being a retard about.

They can also usually identify MS at this point.

Did Jim ever mention if they did test for it?
Jim had multiple brain and spine MRIs, which would have detected MS, because the lesions MS produces are highly visible. The test sensitivity is 90-95%.

Edit: He had a brain MRI in 2020, a brain MRI in 2021, a brain MRI & MRA in 2021, and a spine MRI in 2022.

The brain and spine MRIs would detect MS. The MRA would not.

I wonder if Jim was ever tested for Waldenström's macroglobulinemia ?

It's an uncommon B-cell lymphoma that causes compression fractures in the spine and ribs, is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and peripheral neuropathy, and can cause hyperviscosity syndrome leading to heart attacks.

On the other hand, it results in excess monoclonal IgM which I assume they would have seen in the blood work up.

So could it really just be a unicorn disease? What diseases have already been ruled out?
