It's worth to point out the initial release of Dragon Dogma was quite a success in Japan:

For the PS5 Pro PlayStation wants games to offer a PS5 Pro-exclusive graphics mode that will combine:
  • PSSR to upscale resolution to 4K
  • A constant 60FPS
  • Add or increase ray tracing effects
PlayStation goes on to continue that games may also be given the ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ label if they offer any of the following enhancements:
  • Increased target resolution for titles that run a fixed resolution on the standard console
  • Increased target maximum resolution for titles that run at variable resolution on the standard console
  • Increased target frame rate for titles that target a fixed frame rate on the standard console
  • Inclusion of PS5 Pro Raytracing effects
tech expert and Digital Foundry founder Richard Leadbetter has said that people shouldn’t expect GTA 6 to run at 60FPS on the PS5 Pro. Leadbetter’s analysis is primarily based on the Pro’s CPU, which will be identical to the standard system with a 10% increase in GHz.
I'm fucking confused. Doesn't the base PS5 ALREADY have ray tracing? They're *still* not targeting a baseline 60 FPS for all games? They're only upscaling to 4K?

All three of those were things I thought were just fundamentally a part of the base PS5. A constant 60fps? A decade ago I was getting 1080p60 on just about everything on a midrange GPU, no sweat.

There is absolutely no reason anything short of an insane novelty physics sandbox should be getting less than 60fps on any hardware from the 2020s. I can understand something loco like Beam.NG Drive tanking down to single digits if you spawn 1,000 cars and have them all run into each other, but GTA isn't some magical super-duper game that should be able to make even a PS5 Pro buckle. If that's the case, how's it gonna look on an Xbox Series S? Is that gonna have it running at 720p 15fps?

Rockstar doesn't give a shit. I remember getting the digital edition of GTA5 on PS3 and the draw distance, frame rate, pop-in, and load times were absolutely fucked because they made it to run like everybody would be using a disc where they'd be able to pull data from that and the install at the same time.
 
Their controllers are fucking shit too.
Like what's the point of adding buttons to a joystick when that's the source of drift, slapping 70 bucks on it. Then going all "we pwomise this one won't be shity uwu"

Then their current solution of replaceable joysticks is apparently a 200 dollar one. Fuck that.

I think it's been linked here, but the Interim CEO believes in mobile gaming monetization. So... bad times are probably gonna get worse.

I can't wait for them to pour a shitload of money into some stupid gacha game, only to wind up losing it all because gacha whales already have their favorite waifus.

Never mind that China and Korea don't really give two shits about character designs offending people because they know where the money is. Sony is still beholden to the Western Social Credit system, it'd be like coming from a wet t-shirt contest to a pig auction.

Holy fuck, FF7 Rebirth dropped down to 8th and it still hasn't passed FF16's week 1 sales of 336k.

Square's management definitely saw the writing on the wall with how bad FFXVI flopped on PS5 which explains why they renegotiated their Sony contract and changed Rebirth to a (supposedly) three month timed exclusive, and they were clearly in the right for doing so going by how bad the game is selling right now.

It doesn't help that people are finally catching on to how shit their games have been for the last 20 years.
