Look closely at the second picture, although the stamp isn't canceled, it has a black barcode across the bottom. That's a postnet barcode that is sprayed onto mail when it's run through an initial sorting machine. It likely didn't get cancelled simply because the USPS employees are too lazy to hand cancel it, and it's slightly too small to run on an automated canceller. Of course, it may be an average sized piece of mail, but only looks diminutive due to Fatricks massive ham hocks throwing off the sense of scale.
