I don't think it was the specific things getting revealed as much as the fallout. He felt his life was over at that point and that there was no coming back from it.

Comics, especially indie comics is small. Gary Groth booted him from Fantagraphics, the publisher that made him a household name with Hip Hop Family Tree. No other publisher in America would want to touch him after the accusations. He lost his 70k book deal, a gallery show and was now known in his home town as the pedophile cartoonist, all in the span of a week. Can't blame him for thinking there was no way out.

It’s really quite astonishing. The disdain that so many users have for reading and curiosity on a text and information based platform is too prevalent. I fail to see why so many users are posting here if they refuse to engage with threads beyond flippant calls to the uninformed void. You could probably write a thesis paper connecting mental illness to drawing comics. Whatever Ed's intentions were with the DMs, he saw the writing on the wall with the accusations and knew he couldn't handle it. His accusers don't believe in a path to redemption or forgiveness and he saw what people were willing to lie about right from the jump. People he had a history with, so they both know what the truth is.

I am always against suicide though I understand it. I get why he did it. But it's pretty terrible to pile this pain onto your family, especially your elderly parents, after pointing out that they are being harassed because of you. Still, what he did and the reaction from internet vultures has proven a point about how trash the online culture is.

There was no nude drawing of a minor. That was some other adult cam whore who he outright stated in his suicide note that he doesn’t hide the fact he likes drawing big tits and tattoos in his free time and hid nothing of that from anyone. She just jumped on at the end for clout.

Basically there were three accusations
17/18 had DMs that sound/are weird out of context and in context but nothing sexual happened, the most you could get is an out of context “naughty girl” and offer in the future to crash on his couch. Molly D. It was weird and creepy but not criminal.

Molly Wright was apparently a girlfriend or brief sexual partner. They had consensual sex twice and their relationship naturally ended after they drifted part. After Molly D she came out and did the me too dance claiming Ed said if she sucked his dick he’d introduce her to his agent. She also made claims of Ed disparaging his friend Jim and something about the sales of the Red Room. Ed categorical denied all of those claims in his note, talked about their relationship and had no idea why she pour gasoline on a fire (editor’s note: don’t stick your dick into crazy).

Third woman was a big titted cam whore who Ed freely admitted he said he’d love to draw nude because he loves drawing big tits and tattoos.
