He's going to be pretty fucked over in that regard because he's a direct link to Byuu and their lawyers wont believe the empty urn story.I wonder what side he'll take when they finally come for byuu's work.

No, Nintendo are going after it because their position on copyright is radically different to the west. Jap companies will pursue copyright cases that even the most die-hard copyright trolls would consider a lost cause. They sued yuzu because it exists. It's not the emulator that violates the DMCA, it's probably how they obtained keys and other stuff.
Encryption and decyrption keys are protection measures so including them probably does violate the anti-circumvention provisions of the DMCA.Nintendo's complaint targeting the decryption keys is, unfortunately, within the bounds of Western copyright laws as to be plausible.
A friend of mine said this:Yuzu did not have decryption keys built into the emulator, however, what they did have were:
- An entire page on installing custom firmware on your Switch and dumping the decryption keys for games you own.
- As already mentioned, paywalled versions of the emulator on Patreon with game specific fixes (most notably Tears of the Kingdom) weeks earlier than public releases of both the emulator and the game itself. Patreon income often spiked when these things happened, so the settlement was probably paid for the idiots who wanted to play leaked first party Nintendo games.
There were also rumors that Yuzu devs openly participated in the Switch game dump scene, but I have no idea how to confirm that now if it's even true. I believe that the two other things would already lend them to get fucked in court, especially profiting off of Nintendo's IPs with the Patreon.
To be a bit less OT, people crawling out the woodwork to decry piracy for the multibillion dollar company is insane faggot shit, no wonder Marcan is participating in this.![]()
That's probably why they realized they were utterly fucked. I think their lawyers told them they were going to lose bigtime on this. That's the kind of infringement that can actually be criminal.Patreon income often spiked when these things happened, so the settlement was probably paid for the idiots who wanted to play leaked first party Nintendo games.
Their biggest problem was the Steam Deck. Has all of the controls of the Switch, except it's not limited by Nintendo's bullshit, at a decent-enough price for most people.Nintendo has a lot more interest in shutting down Switch emulation because any decent PC can run emulated Switch games better than the actual console. On the other hand, that gives more plausible deniability to emulator devs, since people can have interest in playing the games they purchased legitimately at higher framerates and higher resolution that what the Switch can handle.
That's such a common behavior it doesn't even register for me anymore. Yes, every single person who publicly complains about "assholes" in projects is, in fact, himself a raging asshole who drives people away from projects. Also probably at least a creepy perv, if not an outright consent accident enjoyer. It's just one of the rules of nature.I am somewhat annoyed by Hector's hypocrisy here. This is the guy who wanted to create a sort of black list of "bad" linux maintainters, aka any maintainer who says no to him. This is the guy who will indirectly threaten anyone he dislikes with the threat of causing problems on social media for that person. He is quite guilty of being the asshole that is being complained about here. In fact, he behaves worse.

As I have said in the OP, if Byuu truly is dead, Hector did the worst possible job of proving it. Speaking of which I will update the OP to account for Byuu's death once the dust settles on this new evidence.Just jumping in to say that I was here before the impending spergout where he brags about how he was “right from the start” about Byuu, despite fucking up the basic details of the suicide
On page 5 of the FOIA:
Could be Hector but with how many people were involved in tracking down this guy I find it unlikely.
My conclusion was that Hector wrote the "suicide" letter, not that Byuu was alive and active under a different pseudonym. Learn to read:
And I stand by that conclusion, because the FOIA documents confirm that no last will or suicide letter were left.
Next will be the Kiwi Farms' disinformation about Asahi Lina.
I would suggest there's a third solution. My theory is mostly that he had no involvement in any of probate, so couldn't produce any proof. He's not the person who was assisting Byuu's husband in Tokyo, and it seems likely the third party that the urn was given to for scattering was Wayne (hence how he had photos of the urn).Still lean towards it as well, just seems to best explain Hector's dishonesty and seeming gayop shit towards the suicide. @AssignedEva's "stolen valour" theory + Hector's abundant immaturity's an adequate explanation but doesn't fit as well IMO. Besides, pretending to be seperate people is apparently something "Asahi Lina" loves to do.
That's what I don't get. If Byuu really did kill himself on the phone with Hector, why was everyone else involved acting so shady about it? Someone slightly more savvy like No Dong would have immediately gotten the documents and used them to go scorched earth on every single ISP, host, you name it. Something tells me that there's some information out there that would reflect really badly on Hector if it came out. I favor the theory that Hector was on the phone with Byuu and did nothing to talk him down, but I think there's more to it.Still lean towards it as well, just seems to best explain Hector's dishonesty and seeming gayop shit towards the suicide. @AssignedEva's "stolen valour" theory + Hector's abundant immaturity's an adequate explanation but doesn't fit as well IMO.
