That doesn't even become a real factor because the cops weren't referring people and the people won't go even if they did.

The simple truth is those drug crime laws were the only viable tool Oregon police had to get the hordes of scumfuck homeless off the streets instead of pushing them out of one park and into the next to smoke crack in like a weekly ritual. They originally got rid of the laws on a shitty ballot measure that promised cops would give people a referral to treatment instead. That didn't accomplish anything and the homeless camps immediately exploded. They had already been a problem, but now it's wholly unsustainable. Between that and the "defund the police" initiatives, it's been ruining communities. Not to mention how many people are dying from the fentanyl getting mixed into it all now.

Hearing Nick essentially celebrating that people overdosed on fentanyl and died in Oregon after this originally passed makes me sick. These aren't people who WANT fentanyl and take it on purpose. They're sold fentanyl, told it's something else (like methamphetamines, which was oddly never mentioned in this discussion about drugs in Oregon), and then take a normal dose of that something else and die. That's all fine though because an idea that Nick selfishly loves to jerk himself off over gets to be put into action despite demonstrably destroying lives. Who cares about them anyways, but don't you DARE tell his child not to interrupt in church, or else!

I knew he would botch this topic, but openly approving of the deaths from the fentanyl crisis was even lower than I expected. None of his jokes landed either. To give people an idea exactly how much of a shit addicts didn't give:

When Portland cops hand out a citation, they pass along a card with a phone number for Lines for Life, 503-575-3769. The hotline is staffed by people who have gone through recovery themselves, and they provide both referrals to treatment and a mailed letter that callers can bring to court to waive the $100 fine.

The process takes from about 15 minutes to an hour. But only 32 people in Multnomah County have done it, according to data from Lines for Life.

Of those, only five have actually submitted the required paperwork to get their fines waived, according to Multnomah County Circuit Court data obtained by WW. That’s a success rate of around 1%.

As of Friday, only 10 people had paid the fine. A few dozen had their cases dismissed. For the rest, their cases are eventually sent to collections.

But it isn't his excuse to keep drinking.

Somebody who takes a kid to task for rudeness isn't a Karen. They're being a good citizen. They're actually helping that child by socializing them correctly.
