Inactive Byuu / byuu_nyan / setsunakun0 / Near / David Ginder - "Non-binary" furry programmer who wrote a Super Nintendo emulator, tried to blackmail Null into removing his thread, and is probably actually dead lol

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I think he still wanted validation from the emulator/coding nerds that rejected him and he thought he could make his suicide an act of martyrdom to redeem himself in their eyes and die for a cause to remove one of the boogeymen of the internet.
He probably should have asked some people who weren't so fucking dense to not give a shred of credible evidence if he actually wanted to be a martyr. From the emails, it seemed he wasn't really incredibly socially aware, and I assume that his friends weren't either. That certainly couldn't have helped his mental state.

So in the end he died a man, at 1 PM alone at home, by hanging. In his blood were high levels of chlorpheniramine (antihistamine drug to be drowsy), escitalopram (SSRI), and dihydrocodeine (opiate). I guess he wasn't confident in being able to hang himself without drugging himself first. It is concluded that it was a suicide and that he attached a rope to the door in order to hang himself.
Isn't Dihydrocodeine the same opiate Hermann Göring was addicted to?

But that's the thing, he didn't. His interactions with the farms and his thread were generally positive.

And then, out of the blue, he tried to blackmail Null.
Which asshole do you think put the idea to try and frame the farms in his head? Not sarcasm - I'm kind of curious since he actually -did- kill himself, but Hector still behaved like a retard in all of this.

It wasn't shoddy journalism if he was actually dead. They just didn't publish their sources.
"Even a broken clock is right twice a day" just because they got lucky doesn't change the fact that the reasoning that formed those conclusions was complete and utter bullshit. AKA shoddy journalism!

No one can say the kiwifarms denied he committed suicide in bad faith when the farms was the only place that bothered to search for the facts and officially get it confirmed, it was only denied at the time because there really was no evidence to support it. Another point in our favor!

I think they might. Brace for impact.

Gonna be real, I knew he was dead. My gut was not wrong, unfortunately. The way he died was needlessly complex, kinda stupid really. But I expect that from a S tier autist trying to make a emulator for one of the most bespoke consoles of all time.

I take no joy in any of this. I see a shitstorm ahead.

Occam’s razor did kind of suggest it went down as claimed, and now there it is written in black and white in the embassy’s duty log.

The guy had his reasons and his emails being published and not being able to put the genie back in the bottle seems to have been the final straw, unfortunate as that is.

Pretty sad reading, really. “He never travelled outside his home and did not have a favorite place”.

Shove it up your ass. He had a dead dozen or so page thread that he attempted to blackmail dear feeder over in order to get removed. Outside of Kiwi Farms, he was obviously never the pinnacle of stability and health to begin with. He had a million other problems before this site, and those hold infinitely more blame. You know why I think he did this? Sheer pettiness. "My problems are never my fault, they have to be someone else's. I need to blame an external entity" is the thought process here. If it weren't this place he blamed, it would've been some other forum he had ties to

We are not responsible for someone with a fragile mental state killing themselves over their extremely public behavior getting noticed. Can you not see how slippery a slope setting the precedent you're personally responsible for what others do with your words is? No, a few people out of hundreds of unique thread contributors taking the piss out of deranged terminally online individuals who claim we murder people, or just being rude, is not indicative of intent to drive people to suicide. Ridiculous
Cool, never said anything about this place being responsible for his suicide though.

So let me get this straight:
  • Dude living abroad covertly tries to get his 13-page, nearly inactive thread with almost zero personal information deleted
  • When Null inadvertantly resurrects it, he tries to bribe Null with his life savings and then extort him by threatening suicide
  • For months, the only confirmation of his death we have is a friend’s overdramatic “trust me, bro” account (which is almost negative evidence)
  • The US Department of State, which issues regular reports on deaths of US citizens living abroad, reports no suicides in his location for not only that time frame, but for the rest of that year
  • Two years after that, a death report from from the Department of State surfaces, dated for a time that should have been included on those semi-annual reports but for some reason was not
  • Turns out Null has been recieved the same FOIA documents from somebody, but has been unable, despite multiple attempts, to get the Department of State to confirm that they’re legit. Also the request does not appear the the DS’s public FOIA directory
I am in awe of how every aspect of this situation has taken exactly the most convoluted path possible. I don't think you could fuck it up any worse if you tried.

So why did this shit never make it into the "American death overseas" listing that the embassy presumably puts out?

did they just not bother to ever fucking list it? do more Americans die overseas and they never bother to actually tell anyone?
Seriously! Even if the problem was, as someone said, some local legal one where they just couldn't find friends/family to sign off, it's still apparently a lot easier than you'd think to just die an unnatural death overseas and not have it officially acknowledged until someone goes out of their way to file an FOIA request on you. How often does this happen?

Why wouldn't they publish their sources? They could just say they confirmed it using a state department record, if they did. That's kinda an important part of a factual story.

It's much more likely that they told the truth and that their sources were terrible. The fact that the underlying issue may have been true doesn't make it good journalism.

OK, so let's put together the Byuu story as best we can.

Jun 24, 2021: Byuu shows up at work for the last time. (But he was mostly remote anyway)

Jun 27, 13:00: Arakawa Police's estimate of Byuu's time of death. (This is probably just "About 24 hours before we found him")
Jun 27, 15:30: An unknown person calls the embassy to warn about an impending suicide, based on Byuu's suicidal Twitter posting.
Jun 27, 16:37: An American living in Osaka emails the embassy. (Marcan lives in Tokyo now - was that true at the time too?) Claims a Frenchman in Tokyo had also contacted the local police.
Jun 27, 17:00: Someone (presumably Marcan) calls and tells the "I listened to him die" story. Claims that he talked to Byuu for about an hour that day starting at 11:11, and then listened to his French music for another hour.
Jun 27, 19:10: Someone using a Netherlands phone number calls with more personal info about Byuu. Claims to have called the local police.
Jun 27, 19:45: Embassy emails Byuu to check on him.
Jun 27, late afternoon and night: Arakawa Police try twice to visit or peek into Byuu's apartment but were unable. They suspect the power might be cut off for nonpayment.
Jun 27, night: Consulate tries multiple times to call Byuu at several phone numbers. An unspecified woman also tries emailing him and calling the police - the police tell her they had already been there unsuccessfully.

Jun 28, 08:53: Consulate calls Arakawa Police. Police say that they are aware of the case and will contact the property managers to unlock the room.
Jun 28, 10:34 to 11:09: Someone calls and emails the consulate claiming to know Byuu's US address. The consulate tries to call back but doesn't get a response. They end up just emailing him asking for any further info.
Jun 28, 13:15: Arakawa Police enter Byuu's apartment and find him hanging in the kitchen/living room, dead. They move the body to the police station; take his keys, cards, and phone; and lock the apartment.
Jun 28, 15:20: Consulate tries to call Byuu and the husband again. Another consulate staffer learns the police are onsite.
Jun 28, 15:59: Consulate on the phone with police, learn that Byuu is dead.

Jun 29: Embassy sends letter of condolence to Byuu's husband via email
Jun 29, 04:41: Husband replies and starts correspondence with embassy.
Jun 29: 09:26: Embassy completes a phone call with the husband
Jun 29, during the day: Embassy informs Arakawa Police that they are in touch with the husband. Embassy calls "the employer/POC at work" who is willing to help. Unable to contact landlord.
Jun 29, 12:02: Consulate gets in touch with someone at Cyber Gadget (probably Hiromi Imai - see below) who is reluctantly willing to be the local point of contact. He worked with Byuu for 2+ years and helped him get a Japanese visa, but didn't see him very often because Byuu mostly worked remote.

Jun 30, 09:04: Arakawa Police inform embassy that they are examining the body with the Tokyo Medical Examiner's office, want to know if the husband wants an autopsy.
Jun 30, during the day: Consulate informs police to go ahead with autopsy. Consulate gets in touch with the landlord, deals with bureaucracy about winding up the lease, bank accounts, etc.

Jul 1, afternoon: Autopsy completed at Tokyo University Hospital; body returned to Arakawa Police Station.
Jul 1: Hiromi was asked to take responsibility for scattering the ashes (once the body was cremated) somewhere Byuu liked, but replied that as Byuu was a shut-in, he didn't know any such place.
Jul 2: After more correspondence, the husband sends over his "letter of instruction" for the remains. He claims to have found a funeral home that will cremate Byuu and scatter the ashes in Tokyo Bay. It is never confirmed if this actually took place or what the ashes' ultimate fate was.

Jul 14: Arakawa Ward issues an official Japanese death certificate.

Jul 15: Cremation scheduled to take place. Presumably does take place but nothing further is mentioned about it.

Jul 16: Embassy requests postmortem report from Japanese medical examiners.

Jul 23, 13:45: Byuu's mother-in-law (the husband's mother) calls the consulate asking for confirmation about the suicide. She had apparently talked to her son but didn't get a clear answer because he was "going through a lot". Consulate will call her back.

Jul 27: Consulate tries a few times to call the mother-in-law but doesn't get a hold of her.

Aug 2: Japanese medical examiners complete their postmortem report, and send it out the following day.

Aug 3: Embassy sends someone (presumably the husband) a "preliminary death report" and a copy of the Japanese report. They say the cause of death is unknown pending autopsy, but that doesn't match up with what's on the Japanese form. I assume this is just sloppiness or the person preparing the message not being able to read Japanese.

Aug 13: Consulate receives autopsy from Japanese police.

Dec 20, 2022: "Simohamed Benbattouche" submits a FOIA request that the government for once doesn't ignore
Oct 16, 2023: Government sends documents back in response to the FOIA.

Fun detail, the Japanese doctor wrote かいぼう (autopsy) at "Cause of Death:". I assume it's a mistake.
Since the US govt didn't censor it this time, who is this コン様 (Kon) who was given his effects?

Those notes seem to have been made by one of the embassy staff since they refer to "Doctor Yamaguchi" and the doctor's handwriting on the death certificate (page 97) is pretty different.

Are you seriously comparing Ronnie Mcnutt who was a military veteran with severe PTSD to a fucking tranny who off 'ed himself over mean words on the internet? What is wrong with you?
A drunk military veteran who killed himself like a pussy when his girlfriend left him and invited his own fucking mother to the livestream? Yeah, not too far off, just because “Muh military” doesn’t mean he’s anywhere a good person, and unfortunately the biggest impact you make is in your death, he chose to make his impact not matter once so ever by making it a stupid spectacle for zoomers and TikTok. Complete waste of a person if you ask me. Also I’ve always doubted the “PTSD” narrative as I’ve yet to see concrete proof it was as bad as people say, and he killed himself when some dumb bitch didn’t answer the phone, boo fucking hoo, overcome it instead of wasting everything to get you as far as you did.

He had blackmailed Null to take down a thread which was at the time at 13 pages. He had basically tried to throw the blood on Null's hands.
Assuming the story is true that's a textbook case of a desperate guy trying a few "impossibles" before calling it quits.

Trying to reconcile with an old ex, asking for inacceptable favors, all-or-nothing gambles... they are of course almost guaranteed to fail, and that's even before assuming their success would do you any good anyway. But that last failure will convince you once and for all that you tried everything and your situation is hopeless.

The Kiwi thread isn't morally responsible for the guy's death, it was just an irrational last-ditch effort.

its odd to me that his husband did not want to handle this himself. its like he washed his hands of the whole thing the second he had a chance. could just be they were unable to fly to japan and not good with handling death but it just feels so strange that the person you married cant even be bothered to lay you to rest themselves.
David’s husband was seemingly amicably separated from David. In these documents, he indicates to the DoS that he couldn’t afford legal representation in Japan and was struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. He has a documented history of bankruptcy.

I agree that aspects of their relationship are strange, and I find the fact that he still has public socials odd, but there’s nothing impeachable.
