Who cares?
Some people care because it gives them an experience no other game does: Virtual Tourism across USA. It doesn't matter if the game is good or bad, it offers something no other game does, and for that alone it deserves to exist.
If you are pro shutting games like this down, you are anti-video game. Simple as that, killing games is no better than pozzing them(especially if it's easy to save them, no reason Crew shouldn't have an offline mode)

the terrible release of the GTA Trilogy from 2021 is going to have a lot of people waiting to see if it's any good.
Call of Duty has consistently continued to sell after every previous entry has shit the bed. Cyberpunk 2077 became a hit 3 years after one of the most disastrous launches in history.

I have no faith in "a lot of people" making a difference after shit like that. Especially when the GTA VI trailer has....184 Million Views?

I used to think there was no way that GTA VI could reach the same launch sales that GTA V hit, but after seeing all of the hype around it? Nah, I'm not making that bet.

Just go play Outrun which is a better game and experience in general. You autistic moron.

It's not about which game is "better", I said this like three times already. The Crew deserves to exist and shouldn't be kept on some life support by companies like Ubisoft, I don't know why you're arguing against this.

You've based both of those points on feelings, not facts. Cyberpunk is still terrible, was so bad at launch it was one of the most refunded games in history and, even worse, was pulled from Playstation stores. The DLC polished the turd, but it's still a piece of shit that fell way short of what was promised.

RDR2 was a massive success on launch, the same as GTA6 will be (imo). It was forgotten by the normies after a week. Source: listening to normies not stfu about RDR2 for a week, followed by "I'm bored of it" when asked if they still play it.

Compound that with the tight-rope walk that GTA6 has to walk; keep it so edgy that it pisses off the trannies leading to moaning, or make the humour [current year] and risk pissing off the fans.
Actually Cyberpunk and RDR2 are good and cool.

We've got the WIP KF Guide to Woke Games thread and there are a few other recommended games threads floating around but we could absolutely use an updated one.

'cause they're retarded contrarians with no actual arguments. this is literally about the consumers' rights, not whether or not The Crew is a good game.
Remember a couple of pages ago when we were talking about that youtuber that kept saying "don't complain or we'll have another market crash"? these drones are about on the same boat. They're usually the same users that just try to shut down discourses by being retarded spergs that will wilfully miss the point on purposes on any topic regarding anything looking like consumer's or worker's rights.

"the crew is bad lol"
who the cares lol, it's not the point.

I don't know why you're defending this game made by genuinely shit people.
We're talking about what this means for the consumers, not whether or not if the game is good or bad. This is a scum practice that shouldn't be allowed to be practiced. You can still play Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (albeit with the caveat that you need the silent patch) and even connect to someone's server to play multiplayer; Why should we allow Ubisoft to dictate when we can play something we paid for?
Especially since, if you read that lolcow of the ubisoft's ceo latest buffoonery on why people shouldn't own anything, you'll read that he really hates his consumers, so to him, the idea that people are still playing the old games, is the equivalent of being robbed constantly and drives him insane. Which makes me also laugh.
tl;dr: let people play shit lol

I mean, if they enjoy wasting money. Hell, a lot of what Ubisoft shits out now isn't even worth pirating now.

@Tanner Glass And the semi-exclusive game Sony has in 2024 they completely lucked into by giving a middle size developer of a small niche game carte blanche to do what ever they wanted.
If you mean Steller Blade, given that it's been melting the brains of the games press, I'm still expecting a FF7 style censorship patch in a month or two.

A good offensive or just petty?
I don't see the problem with it. The devs going insane over SBI are often no-names with small followings but big connections.

I made an indie game suggestion thread a while ago. It's more of a general list of games that look interesting, but I can create a fresh thread if you want. I don't know what would be different though.

There seems to be confusion over this by various people throughout the thread. So I'll get to the point me, and I assume @Bog-standard Poster and others are trying to get at.

You have basically three groups.
  1. Informed gamers
  2. Uninformation gamers and non gaming political nuts
  3. Uninformed normies.
3 is the largest group, 1 is the smallest but most active.

Group 1 (informed gamers, ie. Most in this thread) are going to avoid GTA6. But as a group they are too small to make much of a difference.
Group 3 is going to buy the game no matter what. It's going to take until GTA7 or maybe even GTA8 for them to turn on it. We saw this in everything from Bud Lite, to Star Wars.
Group 2 are the only group that might have enough numbers and information to tip the scales. This is why people are expecting a Cyberpunk or Last of Us 2 situation. They are going to buy it anyway, either unironically or to "hate play" it, but if the game turns out to be shit, it's going to have a steep drop off.

The game is going to be a huge success, there's going to headlines about it being "the fastest selling game ever!" or "Biggest opening week sales" or some other Hollywood accounting bullshit, the left are going to point to it as an example of a woke game succeeding. This much is almost certain.

However, only time will tell if we see headlines like "GTA6 a 'disappointment' says publisher" or "publisher says growth failed to meet expectations, blames some unrelated bs". I also expect to see a sharp drop off in players, followed by a lot of cope. We saw this Palworld vs Suicide Squad.

Hopefully Sony learns from this and invests in Korean and Chinese game devs in the future. Korean game devs are so good at what they do but they stick to MMOs and Gacha because the ROI is so damn high. They probably approached Sony because they legit wanted to make this game as opposed to some board room trying to expand their portfolio.

Korea and China has some of the best artists in the world. Korea specifically being the Mecca for any artist who wants to learn illustration. The results don't lie. Sony and Xbox need to invest in single player experiences otherwise they'll keep churning out Gacha after Gacha. Japan and US wouldn't be able to compete.

Fuck Sony.

When do they *ever* say this unless it's an absolute disaster on the scale of Suicide Squad? Where was this *ever* said about Red Dead Redemption 2?

Even Starfield, which is supposedly the biggest bomb ever according to the "informed gamers", hasn't gotten these kinds of headlines. (unless we're counting redditors and youtube video essayists now)

Edit: Also, I find the idea that "informed gamers" are going to be skipping GTA 6 to be incredibly optimistic, considering the amount of "informed gamers" on the farms who consistently end up buying Call of Duty and the many who jumped back into Cyberpunk and even ended up saying it was "fixed" after the absolute cluster fuck that was it's launch. Hell, if you jump into the multimedia section all you see are people who consistently hate watch the goyslop they constantly complain about. The "informed" consumers of group 1 are hardly any different from group 2 based on what I've seen.

I can almost guarantee that this won't happen.

1. Koreans getting censored by a Japanese company would piss Koreans off and they would stop making games for the PS5.

2. If Sony retroactively censors the game, the Korean company will just switch to making games for Steam only. Lots of Koreans buy consoles, but lots of them play on PC as well and they'd have no problem switching over.

3. Koreans are whiny faggots about Japan BUT they actively resist the kind of bullshit that SJWs and DEI is pushing.

If you think the whole country is CCP then you've fallen for the CCP propaganda.

If you think Chinese devs aren't following the rules of the CCP, then you're a fucking retard.
