When a very young boy in my immediate family started to become awfully picky with his food, the parents were, of course, worried. The nutritious yet not overly-exciting food they served went mostly uneaten for a time.
If the problem is merely about spoiled pickiness, the doctors had a very reassuring and sound reminder: as long as there is healthy food in the house, the child won't starve.
You'd think this to be common sense, but it's still nice to hear it from a medical professional, if nothing else.
It's really the same with picky, spoiled pets. A picky, spoiled cat who suddenly refuse to eat anything but that premium-catfood you gave her on her birthday will come around eventually, as long as you continue to serve the standard food. You just gotta stick to it.
This strategy works wonders, unless one is dealing with an actual eating disorder, which I'd think to be rather unlikely if the child is two and a half years old, like one of the redditors claimed.

Tbh, I had seen moms and people who had this issue say child may spend weeks not eating if not provided with special food. Will faint, throw up etc.
But I still think it can be treated through willpower conditioning.
Or just put the clearly incompatible-with-life downie down.
Anything women do gets excused like this, and so many jumping through the hoops occurs if it is (could be misconstrued as) sexual somehow.
