Serious question: what use is NATO to the United States now, beyond as a permanent reminder and symbol of the GAE, and a way to keep Europe in the American orbit? In fact, what does Europe offer that the continental US cannot provide, aside from pseudo intellectual faggotry?
ASML, skilled white people, military bases close to Russia.what does Europe offer that the continental US cannot provide
This "context" has an "I'm not owned!" vibe to it that somehow makes his defenders look worse.
For some reason it reminds me of the Monstruo vehicles built by Mexican drug cartels for their endless war with the government and each other. Here is video showing this wonder waffle

I find the Azov Aryan Apc kinda cute. Hope it goes to the tank museum.
No idea if it is great, or those africa wooden tanks tier, but it lools cool, and has tiny robotic turrets. I assume those turrers can rotate and aren't welded in place.

Indeed! If you want to read more here’s a good spot for Sputnik news!
I think the former is more of a problem. They can rotate alright. Barely. And are manually operated lmao.
It also doesn’t have a vision slit for the driver.
Yeah they’re still a thing. Plexiglass or periscopes take care of grenade splinters.I think the former is more of a problem.
Are vision slits still a thing with cameras and all that stuff? Last thing you want is getting shrapnel tree in from a window getting a frontal drone ram or just a grenade chucked at you.
Continuing to lose the war is in many ways a LESS risky move for Ukraine than ending it and signing a peace deal. What Ukraine wants now out of these "peace meetings" is a large international consensus on handing over Russian overseas assets to Ukraine. Or a large international attendance at the meeting that they can use as a justification AFTER the meeting for taking moves such as handing over the assets even if the meeting doesn't agree to it.
They want (and need) that $300 billion dollars. I don't think that anything to do with the war or winning the war or the shape of a peace agreement after the war means anything to them anymore.
The Ukrainians will steal some portion of that money. But the majority of that money is going to go to western institutions that are either holding now worthless unpayable Ukrainian debt or have been holding worthless assets on their books to boost the Ukrainian currency.
Ukraine is maybe $200 billion dollars in debt. It’s in default on that debt already. If the war ends, it has no way to pay any of that debt and a full default is inevitable. It’s legislatively impossible to pass laws in either Europe or the US to cancel out $200 billion dollars of debt. If Ukraine defaults, the economic and political collapse of the country is inevitable.
Remember when Turkey bought the Russian S-400 air defense system, and the US gov went nuts and kicked them out of the F-35 program?NATO is a defense contractor cartel. The largest such cartel in the world. They divide up business between companies and countries such that everyone gets a piece of the pie. Its incredibly necessary and very financially lucrative. Its also a form of soft power to control so much of global weapons production.
Every single thing NATO has done since 1991 has made NATO poorer, weaker and less secure but at least we sold a bunch of them F-35's before the rubes caught on.NATO is also a "regional defense organization" under the UN charter. The UN charter gives organizations like NATO special rights to take actions against countries that would otherwise be illegal. NATO has the right under the UN charter to interprerate and enforce NATO security council resolutions in any way the organization sees fit. In the Balkans in the 1990s, it gave them the power to dismember Serbia. In the 2010s, it gave them the power to intervene in Libya, blockade Libya, launch an air war against the Libyan government and organize the assassination of the head of state.
Yeah the most fucked up thing about this situation is that nobody thinks Ukraine can "win" anymore, but they've got to keep dying anyway because as soon as they stop fighting, the crippling losses (human, financial, territorial and political) of both Ukraine and its sponsors become impossible to ignore. A lot of powerful people want to be far away when that day of reckoning comes.Ukraine is maybe $200 billion dollars in debt. Its in default on that debt already. If the war ends, it has no way to pay any of that debt and a full default is inevitable. Its legislatively impossible to pass laws in either Europe or the US to cancel out $200 billion dollars of debt. If Ukraine defaults, the economic and political collapse of the country is inevitable.
Kek. And kek in original meaning too
Couldn't Russia figure it out anyways, like putting monitoring stations near Afghanistan or wherever the F-35 gets flown? The reason for this drama is that as soon as Turkey figures out what the radar signature of an F-35 looks like using Russian radar, Russia and China will also identify how to spot our newest wunderwaffen and shoot them down. Right now, the F-35 is the only major weapons platform the West still has that's a generational leap ahead of Eastern capabilities. It's not enough to win a war by itself, but it's enough to rustle Xi and Putin's jimmies
