I left NY for sunnier regions just over 2 years ago. I haven't heard of any serious damage from friends or relatives, though.

Drama concerning something called Helldriver 2, which I presume is a videa game.

Helldivers 2 is a sequel to Helldivers, which got a lot more popular than it's previous game due to better polish and gameplay compared to the original.

It has caused a lot of butthurt because the plot of the game is a lot like the plot of the Starship Troopers movie. Except unlike the movie which was made by a dutch faggot high on his own self importance who didn't take the time to actually understand what he was criticizing and instead made a very shitty satire that came off making it all look awesome Helldivers and Helldivers 2 actually has some better plot and put a slight level of work to make some things that could give you a second though.

One thing which has made commies extremely mad is how openly militaristic it is and patriotic, like Starship Troopers. Another one is how the Terran Republic is a Democracy, and you fight for "Democracy!" and Super Earth but the Democratic system they have is literally called "managed democracy" where you don't vote instead a A.I. votes for you.

Except no one cares much because the game is fun. Killing bugs with your friends is fun. Skydiving from low orbit into battle is fun as shit.

This makes commies and proggies seethe like you wouldn't believe, because you NEED to get it's satire! You have to hate it! NO STOP HAVING FUN!

The company behind the game doesn't give a shit either way, they are happy with their over the top military sci-fi shooter with tongue in cheek shit.

This "drama" comes not from the game but from the Discord for the game, where a bunch of jannies are pearl clutching over "hatespeech and bigotry on chat" and people are telling them to touch grass.
