Internet Historian Appreciation Thread - The best thing to come out of Austrailia since Mad Max (The original, obviously)

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Turn off your google search & watch history & use the normal YT app.

Google turns it off for you, so they can force you to give your information to the jews at Goygle. It also doesn't let you use your Google Maps GPS either btw.
This only works on the front page, which I have completely hidden on ReVanced (aka the normal YT app with patches) and it opens up straight in my subscriptions. But when I watch something, that's where the suggestions still pop up, and since I have a 21:9 screen in my phone they'll always pop up in my view. Using the non-patched app with ads and all the gay shit that ReVanced rectifies wouldn't change a thing, I also don't get those front page recommendations on ReVanced btw, but again, that's not the issue.

The issue with making a patch like that is that the way the app pulls those recommendations means that if you just hide that element, and you can, you will bombard YT's servers with requests because it'll still repeatedly try to load those recommendations, and there were reports of Google banning accounts that did so because they treated it as service abuse, so until someone figures out how to reliably stop that from happening there won't be a patch that cuts those out. It's way easier on the desktop web version where it's just an HTML element you can cut out, but with the official app it's far more complicated than that.

Also, I had all the Google history tracking shit disabled for years, and YT not showing front page suggestions with it off is a fairly new thing, but it still doesn't change the fact that they force the default suggestions on the video you're watching. They're in part stuff based on what you're actually watching, but more often than not the majority of those suggestions are clearly something YouTube forces, not something that's organically popular.

I once had a shitton of recommendations about Polish politics and the war in Ukraine show up when I did incognito comment checking, and one of those was hours old with no real views on it. And remember that those recommendations, and the ones I'm getting on my phone are what everyone else without an account sees by default. So I'm really leaning into the theory that YouTube promoted that video from Ordinary Things from the top because it spreads the agenda via that useful idiot and I genuinely despise it, because I just want to watch fun shit that I get in my subscription feed or purposefully look up myself, and those fucking recommendations ruin it for me.

Reactions: Xenomorphs Are Cute
Excuse the double post, but here's the newest video from the Fancy series:
There's a nod towards the Michael Richards Laugh Factory "he's a nigger" freakout at the beginning. :story:
Even funnier the ad transition is him saying he's going to say it, "if its good enough Kramer its good enough for me" :story:

Really wish the 'aftermath cleanup scene' was him in the trenches.

Null's Life is Strange playthroughs are forever lost to time but this is the next best thing.

when are the comments saying "when the content isnt plagiarized you mean" gonna stop, these people sure are original with their comments.
If IH had the balls he'd pin one of the comments as the ultimate joke and so everyone can make fun of them, it'd stur the pot but man it'd be worth it.

I need to vent about this and this is the closest on-topic thread to do so on.

I've removed YouTube algo suggestions from my browsing experience on desktop, however on mobile ReVanced still doesn't offer a patch to disable those. I also have my YouTube browsing history disabled, meaning that all the suggestions are generic YT algo suggestions, nothing based on my habits. In result, YouTube peddles me Polish politics that I never watch and populates the suggestion feed with them, even if I watch something like Gamers Nexus talking about a CPU cooler in English.

And guess what video YouTube decided to suggest, mere hours since it got uploaded:
As if I couldn't hate this pasty little faggot even more. I'm not even gonna spend a second listening to what this Neal Mohan approved golden boy has to say. It's either the algo instantly latching onto that title and promoting it to further the agenda, or someone at YouTube actually manually propped up that video. Either way it's incredibly fucking gay and it seems like this faggot is slowly veering into this type of political content, because his gay ass year roundups where he goes all-out to show the world how much of a spineless fag he is politically weren't enough.

God I need to switch to a different app before an appropriate ReVanced patch pops up because I genuinely despise the shit YT algo peddles to people.
I'm glad another person is getting sick of that smug Anglo twat and his videos. The guy so badly wants to be a breadtuber but without fully committing and losing his more moderate audience from the association. I tried watching some of his stuff only to have these statement/opinion jumpscares come at me as the guy makes it known how much he hates Le Chuds or "Late Stage Capitalism". I'd have more respect for the bastard if he just flat-out stated his biases instead of being passive-aggressive about it so he can maintain a false level of disconnect in case he gets into hot water over them then he can hide behind the "it was an act of irony!" excuse. What is it with these fake "Posh-Cockny" British people being weaselly motherfuckers in general? I have an instant distrust of anybody who speaks like that nowadays.

I like IH but the one truly bad thing he did was introduce me to the existence of Ordinary Things when they did those few collab videos together. He seemed fine in those but I guess he had to hide his retarded opinions more effectively on another person's channel. Wonder how long it'll take until he does something threadworthy.
