Also I think it would be kind of cool if she took all her old limmidishun pallids and figured out a way to make some kind of wall art with them, or mod podged the lids of the pallids to a coffee table. It would be a good way to show off her collection and preserve the limmidishuns without risking her actually using expired product on her face.
I'd rather see Gracie do this.

I'm not gonna lie, this sounds like a really fun art project. Grind up the expired eyeshadows into powder and apply then like super-fine glitter to patterns drawn or painted with clear glue. Seal with spray fixative.

Probably not. A few people have noted that she appears to be using some cosmetics - foundations, eyeshadows, perfumes - that were outright discontinued years ago. I remember one of the discontinued products was some kind of perfume or body spray from Victoria's Secret, and I think she was also seen using a lipstick that was at least two years old. Plus, she has all those zillions of limidishun pallids fron Urban Decay and Kat Von D that she's been hanging onto (but not using) for yeeears.

Lots of people don't know makeup expires, to be fair. My mom thought that only 'wet' products (like mascara or lipstick or creme / liquid products) expired, and that dry powders and pencils were fine indefinitely as long as they were kept in a dry place and you didn't get pinkeye. Of course, my mom isn't claiming to be a beauty guru. Kailyn has no excuse for not knowing this shit. You'd think this would have been included in her EXTENSIVE 40-hour makeup course.
Perfumes can last up to 10 years with proper storage, but I don't know if Kai uses real perfumes or just body sprays, which probably don't have nearly as long of a shelf life. There is no goddamn reason to keep using years old body sprays from VS like it's Chanel No. 5, anyway.

I'll be honest, I still have eyeshadow that I bought before I had my daughter 13 years ago. But I don't really wear makeup, except for special occasions, so I only trash expired product when I happen to be putting it on and notice the dates on it. But I do trash it. Ever since I found this thread, I have been paranoid about weeding out old stuff from the makeup I use alot. I have an old box of stuff I don't use any more but that is too good to toss right out. I keep meaning to cull the old shit, but I am lazy and the couch is calling my name.

I am beginning to wonder.... maybe someone should ask Kailyn what the oldest product she has is, and how old it is? Hmmmmmm
She's proudly displayed MAC and Coastal Scents lipsticks and palettes that are at least 7-8 years old in the past (even tried to sell them...), but I'd put money on her having even older stuff.

As far as I can tell, Kailyn likes quantity over quality. (Although I've heard that those lip kits were underwhelming.)

I've never understood that mentality with lolcows, or with a number of people in general, I'm at the other end of the spectrum where I try and do my homework before spending my money, on practically anything I buy but Kai an a lot of cows just seem to obsess over having as many as they can of what ever object they are into almost like it's a validation of there beliefs.

They can last a hell of a lot longer than that if they are based on alcohol, my mum still has a bottle of perfume that her brother bought her way before I was born and it's still going strong to this day.

There's tons of stuff that you can do with old makeup or the containers. But I feel like it's giving her too much credit to assume that she'd even consider anything clever or crafty.

My memory isn't great but it seems to me that the last "high end" thing she bought was the Lorac Mega Pro palette. Everybody was going nuts over that thing, even though the mirrors were broken. It was sold out everywhere. Kailyn was no exception to the mad desire for a palette with yet another range of browns, and managed to grab one. I think it was about 60.00.

Since then though, it's all been drugstore or Amazon purchases and her strange Color Pop obsession. The one exception to being super cheap was her three Jeffrey Star lipsticks that she never wears, probably because one of them is the perfect color for her.

For her "tutorials" she's been pulling out shitty ten year old makeup and that Aucoin concealer makes me want to gag. I think it's been years since she bought Mac or Tarte any of the brands beauty gurus go on about. Until Amazon sells a Kylie lip kit for 4.00, we won't see it.

Maybe she's having to actually help support her daughter with her money instead of buy mid-range makeup brands. Let's hope.

And she has never bought anything truly high end, I'm not sure she'd recognize the names. She supposedly has a Tom Ford lipstick but that's probably ancient too and was probably a sample.

Not that much different from reality, honestly.

It's her favorite color. Some people like to wear their favorite color a lot, in Kailyn's case on her face. It's not unreasonable for people to want to have a signature makeup look or signature color. Of course, ideally it would be a color that actually looks good on that person. I really like the color purple as well so if I could rock a certain purple lip color on a daily basis, I definitely would. But I can't because it looks crap on me.
I don't know if this is accurate but I feel like anyone can wear their favorite color as long as they get the tone right. Like, I really like having blonde hair but honey/golden blonde looks like shit on me, but ashy and white blondes look great. Reddish/orangey pink lipsticks don't work but cool pinks do. I'm sure Kai has no idea what tone her skin is which imo is one of the most important things you can know fashion/makeup wise.
I'm also skeptical about makeup expirations, I know they expire but I kind of assume that makeup companies exaggerate how soon that happens.

Probably true when it comes to powder products that are used with a clean brush. But not with liquid, especially ones that have the containers you dip fingers into.

As an aside, the American Cancer Society recommends that people about to undergo chemo throw their makeup away and start fresh. Apparently, chemotherapy can lower your immune system and you can become more susceptible to lingering germs and get eye infections and stuff. So there must be some truth to the expiration dates as they have no stake in the game. Still, if you have a healthy immune system and have taken care of your products, it's probably fine., I know I have some powder palettes that are past expiration.

Kailyn's brushes don't look clean, and she swatches everything she gets, so no makeup is untouched by her French fry grease, baby poop covered fingers. Hers is expired, with festering bugs growing in those little squares, no doubt. That Aucoin concealer, I would pay good money to have it lab tested and see the ratio of e-coli to makeup. I'm certain that plays a role in the quality of her skin.

Or lack of quality, I mean.
