The ironic thing about that is girls participating in boy scouts isn't even new, girls have been allowed to participate in boy scouts for ages if they had a brother (they just couldn't earn badges and girls like me with no brother were shit outta luck).

Especially since I feel like boys being normalized to interacting and being treated as equals with girls from an early age makes them less likely to be misogynistic shits as they grow up. I (33M) have been with my husband (34M) for 11 years, married 2. This is our first year filing taxes jointly.
I went to verify my husband's identity with the IRS, only to find that he just... didn't submit his taxes the past 2 years. He was unemployed, and "got so overwhelmed" that he just didn't finish his taxes.
He went to work this out with his mother, who's a fairly competent tax preparer, and supposedly that's straightened out, though no clue how much it cost. Tonight, I get told that he has one more document to add to this year, 1095-A. For non-Americans, that's a document detailing how much was paid into an Affordable Care Act medical insurance premium.
We got legally married in 2021 because he was unemployed, and I wanted to make sure he was underneath my company insurance so that he didn't have to pay the high ACA premiums. We got married, and he just... never stopped paying. He claims that he just never noticed he was paying the ~$350 a month into his insurance. He got a new job in February, which also provides insurance, which means the tax benefit to pay for it was ineligible for most of the year.
So, that's ~$4000 in insurance payments for a plan that he never needed, plus ~$4000 in repayment of a tax rebate he wasn't qualified for, plus however much I was paying out of my paycheck to insure him every month unnecessarily.
Things have been stressed over the last 9-12 months, as my husband has made decisions and choices that have felt self-serving and thoughtless. He struggles with ADHD and autism, which I understand by his own admission he doesn't want to be a crutch or an excuse, but increasingly it feels like he's let his struggles with planning, organization, and general "adulting" spiral out of control. In the last 2 months, we finally felt in a good place to talk to a realtor and a mortgage broker about maybe buying a home in the next 12 months. This financial setback puts a huge dent in our chance of ever realizing that dream in the next 3-4 years.
I'm feeling betrayed, and heartbroken, and like I've lost all trust I had for the person I've spent a decade of my life with. I have always struggled with feeling like I am the responsible adult who has to catch my partner when he fucks up, but this is by far the worst we've ever weathered. Is there any coming back from this?

If you actually read my post and not instantly started turning cartoonishly red with smoke coming out your nostrils given how you been acting out in this thread, my post for the most part literally had explanation on why women had to taken a such drastic measure.
For colleges, prior to WW2 there was a decent number female schools and colleges for women to get themselves educated in, they were picking up in incredible pace, at least in USA all up until Great Depression with a combo of USA being dragged to WW2. After WW2, with people dealing with incredible effects and trauma of being part of an incredibly stressful times resorted to them escaping the harsh realities by doing things that were much safer, women resorted to being homemakers while men went to do office jobs, because of how society coped with picking itself up after war by yearning to return to the times they associated with simplicity and safety, people in position of power considered keeping female schools and colleges open as obsolete. We're also seeing this similar phenomenon post coof shit, where many women were incredibly eager to learn and get educated but once lockdowns hit along with fear and uncertainty of how things will go hit, many women dropped out of college and resorted to do trad wife or dumb bimbo pill shit because they associate with things and certain behaviors with times when world was safer and more simpler. Abolishing female colleges was a major setback, because once things started to stabilize in the 50s-60s, many women were hit with the realization of how much they wanted to learn things, to work and be financially independent/stable (plus it didn't help that lots homemaker shit was pushed by the government and previous generations) they had nowhere to get that education because all of the places that would provide them that service got closed down and if they were to express that wish they'd be considered as neurotic or abnormal.
And I literally said, if men weren't constantly shitting on women for being fragile/weak because they needed their own space because they couldn't "handle" "default spaces" aka male ones for anything, maybe women wouldn't feel shame and pressure to have to prove themselves.
Edited to add - I hated the girl guides because it was boring so I quit. The boys went camping and made fires and we did lame stuff. The solution to that isn’t to crash the boys fun it’s to make the girls have fun too. Why should the girls be indoors while the boys are out in the woods? That’s not fair.

Personally as someone that has been in a similar position, grew in a country where lots of activities and workshop for children weren't exactly strictly gender segregated aside from few exceptions such as sports and ballet, I feel this is a very American problem.
Most of the time when I was part of activity clubs or workshops where the space was mixed as a child, usually girls would be in their own corner and boys would be in their own one doing whatever, but despite that we would often be paired to do things and play together when there wasn't any tasks to do. And honestly, usually boys from who were part of this mixed gender activities do tend to be more healthier when it comes to relationship between genders and seen girls as friends and equals. Plus lots of these spaces help kids get out of their comfort zones and try to do activities they wouldn't be usually encouraged in same sex spaces.

In the UK demands for reparations aren't really a thing yet (they probably will be, seeing as we fucking copy every new american trend), the only case of reparations I've heard of is the country of Bermuda suing the Drax family to nationalise their plantations, as the Draxes were one of the big slave-owning families and have continued to run their sugar companies using the same building / infrastructure ever since slavery was abolished, as well as being paid off for the value of the slaves by the UK government, which only finished in 2015. If they're successful then Benedict Cumberbatch will probably get hit as well because his family was too.
The vast majority of our slavery operations (excluding some port cities) took place in the colonies so it's a very different set-up than in the US, here I think there is more recognition that it was specific families / our ruling class rather than everyone.
I don't see historic reparations for women happening, but calls for domestic work / caring to be compensated by the state are probably the equivalent, and I do think that is worthwhile because it is a huge loss of earning power but necessary to do and it is women who are doing it. Or, immigrants, when it gets outsourced, so clearly someone is going to get paid for it, it might as well be women. When it's outsourced to immigrants though a large part gets taken off the top by care home owners, so it's likely to continue that way, rather than encouraging multi-generational households and social support networks.
Finally, every time I hear men complaining about how men are demonised now...at most it's been it's been 50 years, women were told they were responsible for the original sin and / or impure bc of menstruation for literally centuries and men can't hack being mad to feel bad for literally half of one. The majority of women in the world are still raised in religious belief systems and they don't complain as much.

From my friends' kids, there is much greater awareness of autism among kids now, autistic characters are featured in kids media, and children make an effort to spend time with them and integrate them into their social groups. Any autistic girl in the girl scouts now isn't necessarily having the exact same AR experience, aside from still not doing more physical / practical activities, which I agree with.
