Nick decided at some point that at 6'2/6'3 and 201 pounds that he was massively overweight and that he needed to re-gain his college weight of around 155 pounds. Nick did the science on weight loss and getting into shape and concluded that the way you lose weight is just not to eat. He seemed to be eating a diet where most of his calories came from small amounts of junk food and large amounts of alcohol.

Nick proceeded through his diet to go from 201 pounds down to 155 pounds. But rather than losing body fat - which he didn't have much to begin with - Nick seemed to have lost a significant portion of his adult muscle mass. Then Nick got mysteriously ill with what he claims was a fever of 107 degrees. He didn't go to the doctor, but the illness caused him to lose around 10 more pounds over a few days pushing his weight down into the mid 140s.

Nick realizes that he needs to put on weight now because he is below his ideal weight. So he intends to do "something". He talks about lifting weights which (a) he will almost certainly not do because he is lazy and (b) he would probably hurt himself if he did given how messed up his body is.

So as a result of all this, he looks like a skeletal ghoul. He now has the body of a frail old man. His friend Dick Masterson says he looks great.
