Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

If I'm not mistaken, the manga entered a hiatus because of that.

The long hiatus was because Kannagi mangaka Eri Takenashi had a near-fatal subarachnoid hemorrhage, bleeding between the brain and the tissues surrounding the brain,. probably as a result of an aneurysm. That she survived and had the strength to finish the remaining six volumes of the Kannagi manga is no small accomplishment, both for her and the surgeons who had saved her life.

I obviously can't tell you whether or not the aneurysm was due to stress over the controversy but I prefer to think the timing was just an unfortunate coincidence.

If we are posting Frieren spoilers then monument is destroyed by either the demons or Himmel’s party. I think Himmels party directly implies it when Frieren isn’t present. The demons might’ve succeeded in an objective, but for now they are just vaguely menacing in trying to revive the demon king.
It's a suspiciously weird thing not to show happen, though. I suspect we haven't seen the last of time travel (ie the goddess is actually Frieren, the elf who "can do some priest spells" because "her scriptures are magic itself" ie whatever random grimoire is at hand, despite the fact that we learned in this story that the priests' scriptures are literally coded spells left behind for them so it's NOT SUPPOSED TO WORK THAT WAY FRIEREN ie she's actually in the process of inventing it intuitively), so the stele getting smashed might be some cute Back to the Future shit later on.

Also while I'm pulling shit out of my ass, I predict that Serie is the devil and she created demons herself just to be a bitch.

Serie is just the cutest warmonger. Unironically she wants a fight and the demons don’t interest her as much as humans.

I’m waiting for more Macht like Demons capable of self-reflection. I want a feral child who was raised by a demon because one literally wanted to understand its prey better. Basically Demon Frieren and Fern.

Just watched the first episode of GO! GO! Loser Rangers, made by the The Quintessential Quintuplets guy. It's Super Sentai but the puddies/minions are the only surviving faction of the invaders. I wish they made more earnest Gatchaman type shows but I know that is a tall order. It's would be like asking for a traditional return to Scooby-doo, just not possible.

GO! GO! Loser Rangers looks promising with a tint of Tiger & Bunny's cynical take on commercialized Superheroes and a tale of the underdog.

I was thinking Demons were like a homunculus race created by Serie because she was arrogant and bored. Although, the fact that she seemed cowardly in the face of defeating the demon king herself... I don't know how valid it is to think she might have made Demons.

It's a dumb theory but if I'm right about the first thing then the Serie thing probably has to be responsible for narrative reasons. I don't have any justification beyond that (because she's still a mystery), since her being a living grimoire who looks down on folk spells but loves fightin magic makes sense if she's the antagonist to Frieren's love of low-level creative magic eventually leading to her having a true holistic understanding that lets her create a whole field of magic that can't be harnessed by mages--plus creating demons would be the single biggest thing Serie could do to suppress the coming of the age of humans.

Mainly I just wanted to post it so I can say I totally called it later maybe.

Remember when in the very finale of Tiger and Bunny had all of the main characters be gay? Yeah. Hopefully, we're not getting that.

Damn that season 1 finale for Sengoku Youko is hype. Wondering if I should just read the manga or the anime will be good enough. What I like about the manga author is how he isn't afraid to break status quo, which plague a lot of other works.

I'm still holding out for a Spirit Circle anime if Sengoku Youko does well but who knows. I think S2 will do better because its where they were originally going to adapt because its where the manga supposedly "gets good". I still need to finish S1 anyway.
Having Gintama referencing what I still consider to be new shit like AoT and Assassination Classroom makes me feel even older than usual.
If you think that makes you feel old look at the trailer for the new Ginpachi-sensei anime.

I recommend, the last episodes puts the foot on the gas and doesn't let go.

I'm up to date on Dandadan, MH:A, and Oshi No Ko. Any good manga that come out on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday you guys recommend?

I started reading the Manga. Honestly really like seeing the villains perspective, the putties no less. It also gets into how Rangers might not be the best people in the world, more like celebrities.

I stumbled upon Train to the End of the World, a weird show where when Japan turns on their 7g cell network it broke reality, and travelling from place to place is difficult. I know nothing about it and am loading it onto the server as there's two episodes now

Original anime, it's made because of 150th anniversary for the first JP's train railway. Also, subtle yuri or yuri bait, keep expectation grounded.

Something something Utena shot.
Still I guess people can watch it for wacky mysterious sci-fi thing and well, train traveling.
Episode 2 spoiler thing.

Well it's definitely mysterious. After watching the first two episodes I like the concept of it, but the girls are annoying.

I mean, there's plenty of that. Shinkalion drowns in its earnestness and enthusiasm for trains, and the other post-2010s Takara anime (Drive Head and Earth Granner) are similarly earnest. This isn't to mention that Pretty Cure is just pink Kamen Rider and that the actual Sentai/Rider shows are quite earnest.

[/SPOILER]
Also "Shamanic Princess shot", a slightly bonkers OVA series whose first episode slightly predates Revolutionary Girl Utena by a few months.
