As I understand part of "and shit" is that California has their own gas requirements, met only by refineries in the state due to cost or something. Instead of a truck going to the Arizona towns just driving across the border to Needles and filling their tanks it's instead a California truck having to drive in from who the fuck knows where. You see this at most of the California border towns as they're all way the fuck away from the fuel depots. And the stations on the other side can just use their own state's fuel.

No lie, the gas station I took that picture at; the one with the Subway and Dairy Queen. They have a human sized Spike statue, for tourists to take pictures with, yes I'm serious.

Charles Schultz is the pretty much the hometown hero; Sam Kennison is a close second, but that's just because he died in a car wreck nearby, nothing to be proud of. There's also a kid who went on to play for the... ... ... what's the professional Baseball org? It's not the NBA, the baseball one.

To be fair, Illinois gun laws are batshit insane. Am familiar with that area. Wife is feom kingman so pass through there quite a bit. Everytime we've gone through the gas was always fucking high. My guess is just the total lack of anything else really around so they know they can gouge peeps who need gas and thought they could make it through there.

Null took action and gave her the triangle, banned her from some threads, said don't interact. So lowering the tension as you would put it on a decisive subject.

Has it stopped? Is it being debated truthfully? Just look at the Arizona abortion thread for the answer. Shes still there, and people are still interacting with her on it. There will always be people like her and the people interacting with her....yes they may not have direct power. But they do have collective power even political power Since it can be bought so easily.

They may loose the battle but they don't want to loose the war, and if that means bide their time (like with the ERA or even the shit with segregation or hell even the troon menace) to try again later they will. If it doesn't work more social engineering to push the Overton window some more. If say Clinton's safe, legal, and rare (something I don't believe in, but probably a necessary compromise) became enshrined in law, then those extremists on both sides aren't going to be happy. They may not be able to sway the electorate...at that moment but they will continue to untruthfully steer the debate so that tensions go back up to try again.
Whether they are successful in their endeavors I don't know. But they definitely won't be truthful in trying to achieve their goals. Especially when the "compromise" "isn't fair" and they want to take a mile.

Yes, lies and hyperbole are only effective as the people let it be. Problem is because of people and their emotional reasoning or any other "defect of the human condition" any attempt at putting a meaningful limit on abortion will always be seen as "controlling the bodies of women" by those types, and those types will always influence others, etc etc. The same tyoes of things could be said for any of the other multitudes of hot button issues out there. AKA the people will let it be effective.

Tensions are now back up. And then all you need is a bought and paid for politician or friendly judge and the issue gets brought back up full force and we rehash shit that was supposed to already been hashed out.

I would say that it's a human nature problem that probably will never go away because of people (myself included) using/letting themselves be swayed by emotional reasoning/appeals to emotioninstead of logical (especially with hot button issues). I don't think we will ever get to a point where humanity can do that as a species. I also don't think it will happen in my kid's, or even great grandkids lifetimes.

For what it's worth I wished we could get to that point...for more things than just abortion.

It won't stop until people stop giving a shit about how people they'll never meet and don't actually care about live, which is to say no it won't stop.

Because people are genuinely retarded enough that, the moment Roe got overturned the most ardent retards on the extremes of the topic immediately started calling for federal action rather than being overjoyed that it was no longer being discussed at a federal level.
