A major incident is unfolding at a major Sydney shopping centre, with reports of a stabbing and at least one gun man on the loose.

Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney's eastern suburbs is in lockdown after the incident on Saturday afternoon.

Panicked people were seen running across the pedestrian bridge outside the centre in video posted to social media while others said they were being evacuated from the centre's car park.

Police are attending the scene in massive numbers.

Eastern suburbs local Ted Helliar posted to X: 'Something just went down at Westfields Bondi junction.'

'We were up there and all of a sudden all these people running towards us. Next thing dozens and dozens of people all running a screaming some bloke yells 'someone is stabbing everyone get out of here'.'

Another X user said hundreds of shoppers were hiding in the back of the David Jones department store, which had pulled down its shutters with reports a man had been seen running with a gun in the centre.

A police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Saturday afternoon that a major police operation is under way and officers were gathering details at the scene.

You'd expect this shit from the West, not the rich, snotty nosed Eastern Suburbs.

Like Dufe said, good to see the banning of knives has worked out so well. All that effort at cracking down on knife violence and postcode gangs after the Royal Easter show stabbing has done wonders for public safety.

I've heard that 6 and maybe up to 10 people have been stabbed, with one of them being an infant. Nothing has been confirmed, its was chaos at the moment.

Two men have just spoken to Nine News about helping a baby and its mother who were both bleeding.

The pair, who indicated they were brothers, said they saw a man “run up to the woman with the baby”.

“We got them into the store ... rang for help,” one of the men said.

The men said the baby’s mother had been stabbed, and they were trying to compress the baby’s wounds, including using shirts from the shop.

I mean i hope at least one jew died, and nothing of value was lost with another arab down. I was expecting the Indians to pop up in the news and to say absolutely nothing of value and head wobble.

Fuck the eastern suburbs i wish they'd get infested with more Indians, just to piss of the jews.

9news saying there was only one perpetrator (ABC news saying two, so who the fuck knows), wielding a knife (gunshots from police?), completely random attack, Australian Federal Police saying to not jump to conclusions and there's no further danger to public - "situation contained".

So basically just one goat fucker doing goat fucker things.

I will always be wrong to some people, but I'm glad this nigger couldn't get access to high powered firearms unlike in 'murica.

Unrelated but first world Eastern Sydney "but what about my car" problems, the police are saying you're not getting your car out of the centre parking tonight. Another win for Westfield / Scentre Group.
