Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

If we look hard enough we'll probably find something in the 70s that first inspired Ikuhara for that shot. That's what always feels frustrating about products from the Gainax clique.

I'm up to date on Dandadan, MH:A, and Oshi No Ko. Any good manga that come out on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday you guys recommend?
I assume you're using either Viz or MangaPlus to read stuff. I'm not going to say what I like to read, but what I've seen people compliment anyway.

-Tuesday: Marriagetoxin is about a guy who has to get married and have a kid or else his sister gets bred by yakuza, so he gets the help of a swindler in order to score a wife. Chainsaw-Man is Chainsaw-Man. Magilumiere Co. Ltd. takes magical girls and makes them into a profession.
-Wednesday: Kindergarten Wars is about a bunch of death row criminals who must work at a kindergarten to protect powerful people's kids. Dogsred is about a former figure skater who quit and started playing hockey in Hokkaido. The Days of Diamond is about a kid whose natural skills create a gap between him and his peers in any sport, and his path in baseball. Catenaccio is about a guy who goes to Italy to play futebol and is going to do whatever it takes, even fouls, to win. There's some new series called "gift of poison" about painting, but I haven't really followed it, and another about a girl who has a rice cooker and makes food.
-Thursday: Rugby Rumble is Kuroko's Basket but with Rugby. Stupid strong dumbass joins a rugby club and plays against multiple teams that have the best players of the nation in them. Kaiju #8/Monster #8 starts out being about the guy who has to clean up after a kaiju attack, only he becomes one. Sachi's Records is Shin-chan if he was a girl and the fate of the world depended on her. A new one called Ghost Fixers recently started which is about ghost hunters.
-Friday: I don't really know enough about the ones that seem to be popular [Astro Baby and Shojo Null] but well, those seem to be horror stuff. 2.5 Dimensional Seduction is about a nerd who gets a girlfriend who's a cosplaying otaku who manages to look exactly like his favorite girl.
-Saturday: Existential Unplugged has Kierkegaard reincarnate in the modern day as a guitar player. Hope You're Happy, Lemon is all about body swapping between a guy and his ex-girlfriend who totally loves him. Girl Meets Rock is some weird series that's probably trying to be the next Bocchi. There's the detective Ron Kamonohashi series, but I'm not familiar with that one.
-Sunday: Centuria literally just started but it's at least an interesting one. Debby the Corsifa is about a guy who has to keep the strongest demon from Hell entertained or else the world is destroyed. The God Before Me is about shogi from the perspective of an unlucky guy doing his best. There's a new Kinnikuman series, but it's not translated regularly.

I don't know which of these may interest you, if any, but as said, these are the things I know of.

Well it's definitely mysterious. After watching the first two episodes I like the concept of it, but the girls are annoying.
Funny, I like the banter between them myself, particularly Akira and Reimi. Then again I also got a lot of fun out of The Magnificent Kotobuki and High School Fleet and this one has a lot of similarities in approach and feel to both.

Turns out Anna Komnena DOES cover the beautiful John II arc complete with cute barbarian waifu. Neat.

In my neverending quest for reading stuff about the nazis, I came across this

I dont know whats it about Japs that they put out a lot of analytical stories on Hitler and the Nazis between this and tezukas Adolf while also censoring any mention of Hitler in vidya games while most of the west especially nowadays cannot even mention the word nazi without saying theyre evil over a million times. This one is a pretty good read though, really shows the socialist tactics wearing a nationalist uniform Zeev Sternhell described. Maus BTFOed.
I also didnt know this but its funny to me. I guess its spoilers for the book Hitler had an incestuous relationship with his niece who later killed herself after she fell in love with a Jew. This was before the nazis rose to power

Catched up on Apothecary Diaries anime. God damn Maomao's parents had it hard, funny both were turbo autists who'd rather play video games than bang. At least I hope they get some good years together, and her father to patch up relations with her. Overall a fun watch, but I preferred the court intrigue over Maomao's rather anachronistic knowledge of chemistry/metallurgy/botany/medicine.

Also finished Frieren. Tbh, I feel like the story shifted too much from the unique "see the world through the eyes of an immortal elf" and into invincible protagonists shonen with relationship drama. Though at least the protagonists are fun. Also magic is still insanely OP to the point you wonder what's the point of having non magicians in a high level party.

I should look into new shows but they all seem to be rather generic.

Well, you see in the magic-resistant dragon episode and the one with the magic-reflecting plant monster (even though Frieren was the one to kill it) why they have fighters instead of just stacking mages. They're still pretty insane since they're the "weapon arts"-are-basically-spells-we-just-don't-call-it-that type of RPG warriors, it's just that they aren't the focus of the series (thus the jokes about Stark tripping over martial arts masters off-screen all the time) and we haven't really seen a high-level fighter versus wizard battle yet. Although Stark held up well when he fought that pair of demons with Fern.
Also there's (not really a spoiler since it hasn't done anything yet) a magic-nullifying mineral that shows up later in the mango so that's always a risk.

Turns out the focus on melancholic stuff is mostly an anime thing after the first couple chapters. I really like what they did with that; it's the main reason I recommended waiting for season 2 instead of reading. So I agree to an extent, but it was probably unavoidable with the climax being the mage exam. Nothing like that has happened again in the manga FYI so I'm expecting the anime to return to what they were trying to do with the series.

Serie is just the cutest warmonger. Unironically she wants a fight and the demons don’t interest her as much as humans.
I don't know why I'm still thinking about this but I just realised that the way all demons devote themselves to a single strain of murder magic and evolve it into new and higher forms over their lives is exactly the shit that makes Serie wet.

ie they should be her idea of a perfect race, really.

Actually I think the only time we've seen her not be indifferent to demons was encountering one who had started spending a couple centuries to trying to develop empathy with humans instead of his magic, who she wanted to execute on the spot out of boredom even though it would have doomed a city.

Did the Germans even call themselves Nazis? Seems like a one-dimensional label the west use- oh wait...

Apparently some censorship went on in the new Black Butler season's 1st episode where they changed the word "Fag" with "Drudges", this isn't a faggot fag, this is the British Fag (not the ciggerate, the other one).

The Italian subs, & only the Italian subs, kept the Fag.

I hate Amerimutt localizers so much it's unreal, even the fucking localized manga called them fags.

So while innocently trawling for new anime to add to my server I came across an Omegaverse (manpreg) one: Tadaima, Okaeri
I've only heard bits and pieces of omegaverse concepts but I really wasn't expecting to come across this. What's next, furry animes and pedo ani... oh right.

Unnamed memory looks cute. A prince is cursed so that any woman who bears his child dies, so he conquered a tower to ask a witch to break the curse (which she cannot do). As an alternative, he asked her to live with him for a year - with his intent of winning her heart so she becomes his wife (as she can resist the curse).

Next i'm watching kaiju No 8 as it looks interesting.

Just want to say the new Kaiju No. 8 adaption is PEAK. Watched it dubbed and my gosh, it don't sound like a dub, it sounds good, and tickles the Pacific Rim portion of my brain perfectly. Production I.G. went nuts with the first episode. As in mental. It looks amazing, fights are spectacular, tons of kaiju guts, love it.

Also love the MC. Very... relatable if you've ever gotten stuck in life. I've read the manga, but let me tell you, the anime hammers it home. Please check this out.

Oh the closing song is good. This is shaping up to something that should be really really good. The fact that they focus on the complexities of cleanup indicate it will poke fun at the genre

Well... you're just gonna have to keep watching lol. Honestly has a bit more to do with superheros, Ultraman, that shit, then you first realize.

Astro Note is very vintage. It starts with a space battle that has like blocky 80's spaceships they sell model toys of. I'm still getting a feel for it but the characters are all unique. It has the vibe of being much older then it is, like the art style director is near retirement age.

Edit, yep character designs by Eisaku Kubonouchi

For anyone who wants to see the new Black Butler Public School Arc but dont know where to start. You can just watch Episodes 1-6, 13-15 of season 1 (Although Episode 15 has some anime only moments that I noticed) since the rest of the episodes of that season are anime only and are non-canon. Season 2 is also non canon. After season 1, you can start on Book Of Circus (Season 3) which only has 10 episodes. Then watch Book of Murder which are 2 OVA episodes that are each an hour long. Then finally Book Of The Atlantic which is Black Butler The Movie. Overall, you only have a little bit to watch before Black Butler Public School arc.

A huge benefit to knowing a 2nd language is being able to watch anime without the fear of lolcowalizers ruining it. These types of ppl usually only ruin English subtitles. Never Spanish, French or Italian.
