Do not encourage rule breaking by asking which specific title another person is looking for when they make a request.
GETTING STARTED
Cent Browser
Due to its "sandboxing" technology, Chromium browsers will keep you safer than any other browser on the market. Cent Browser is essentially an enhanced Google Chrome while not sending any tracking data to Google beyond what little the APIs use. If you need the 32-bit version (for whatever reason) change the 64 to a 32 in the URL. Portable means there's no install, it's just extract-and-go.
Nano Adblocker
Nano Defender
You need an adblocker if you want to navigate the shady parts of the net without it being a nightmare. Nano Adblocker is a fork of uBlock Origin that boasts some extra features. Nano Defender is an addon compatible with both, but doesn't require any extra steps to work with Nano Adblocker.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus
This is the best antivirus on the market. Not only does it have very few false positives, but it is remarkably light on performance. You can pirate this, but it's a bit of a PITA. It's easier just to buy cheap keys for it on eBay. I get a 3 Computer License off there for around $15 a year.

One of the only torrent clients that hasn't devolved into pure dogshit. Not only is it multi-platform but Windows and Mac users will be relieved to find it doesn't require you install something like Java or Python or shit like that to use it.

This is a handy little app for getting shit off websites that don't offer torrents. Has an extensive database of all filesharing websites and streamlines downloading from them in batches. This is a portable version that strips out adware.

A torrent indexer that pulls torrents from the safer places of the internet, all in one spot. As with most torrent indexers, there are no descriptions, but it's great if you know what you're looking for.

A torrent indexer with a much wider reach than iDope, sometimes taking torrents from unsafe places. If you can't find what you're looking for on iDope, check here next. Bear in mind there is greater risk of viruses if you don't download from verified sources (green check mark), so be sure to check the files out before you use them.

A shadow of what it once was before the initial takedown. This is the only legitimate Kickass Torrents on the internet, every other site is just a copy-cat of the old site with old files. Given its dedicated userbase it might have some stuff that you can't find anywhere else.

The biggest and best repository of software to date, but relies on file sharing sites rather than torrents (use JDownloader). When you use the search, be sure to limit it to 'topics' so it doesn't match posts. Share codes are just what you attach to the end of the URL listed above them - they do this to keep search engine indexing bots from reporting their links to the file sharing sites.

This website is entirely in Chinese, but unlike Russian pirates, English is the primary language of their releases. LibGen has fallen on hard times, but I've found some pretty rare stuff on here. If you use one of their megatorrents that contain a shitload of textbooks be sure to identify the one you want by its MD5 and add the PDF extension to the file.

The last resort, not really piracy, but I'm listing it since if you've exhausted the above options, you'll want to know what to do next. This lets you find textbooks in libraries in the real world available for checkout. If they won't let you hold the book for the entire duration of your class, you can just scan it at home.

If you can't find what you're looking for anywhere above, IRC just might be the answer to your woes. Files are retrieved via peer-to-peer downloading from chat bots. This is actually relatively safer than torrenting, but it's not as fast. However, chances are, the files you'll be wanting from IRC aren't going to be large enough for that to matter.

pChat is the IRC client I use, and this is a 'portable' version which means it doesn't even have to install to your system, you just extract it and use it. Very simple, doesn't bombard you with nags like mIRC does, and pretty user-friendly as far as IRC clients go.

Searches many popular IRC channels, however it isn't very good. It DOES, however, give you an idea of where to look. Search for something mainstream first, and then go to the channels that come up in the results and see if they have the more obscure stuff you're after.
Recommended Channels
Make sure to read the channel topic for any special rules. You generally perform a search with the @find command in chat and then bots will message you and give you reults & instructions. If you want a lot of things related to your search, you should download a file list from one of the bots that has what you're looking for - it will tell you how.
