Never had a ND but almost did once. First handgun I ever owned was this little shitty Semi Auto 22lr pistol my Father got me. We were at the range and it was my first time firing it, I finish up a mag and go to walk over to a different stall. (Outdoor range, we were the only people there.) As I'm walking over I noticed the hammer is slightly back, I think that's odd and point it at the concrete floor and pull the trigger, hammer goes forward and clicks. Get to my new stall and pull the slide back and this 22lr with a dent on the rim comes flying out. I sit there for a moment in shock, put it into a fresh magazine with other rounds and go back to shooting. This time the pistol feeds every round perfectly and I am left with the weight of my severe retardation on my shoulders.
One of my first and probably best lessons in regards to firearms and not being retarded when using them.

My only unwanted discharge was the result of a mechanical failure, and it got me into amateur smithing and repair.
Remember, faggots, parts wear can be very deceptive. Light to no-contact primer strikes does not mean the potential energy is not there, and if you don't know what the sear looks like it might also be FUBAR.

IRL it happens too. One guy put a hole in the wall at my local gun shop years ago and he came in last weekend. The usual crew that hangs out there on the weekends just starts giving all their close call and ND stories. I don't have any, but I have to wonder why people would ever willingly admit to such.

He's the king of making "perfect" the enemy of "good". Any time a state passes gun rights legislation that's better than the existing law, he shits all over it because it's not good enough.

There was a senior US Surgeon (army( at camp Bastion in the 2010's that you could spot because he was carrying an M4 as his personal weapon rather than a Pistol (after the battle of Bastion everyone had to carry a weapon system), He was an absolute prick to anyone that looked at him in the wrong way, but instilled complete confidence in anyone out on the ground.
