If people get all mad like this, it's usually because you attacked part of their identity in some way.
for example, beliefs in the idea of colorblindness - it's something that Hollywood taught him when he grew up, and it's how he thinks reality works. After all, he saw countless examples of Black families living together with White families in harmony. It doesn't matter that this only really happened on TV because he has based many of his decisions in his life and has formed many of his other views based on that perception.

He made the comparison between lore accuracy and the reality of interracial marriage to make the point that if you care at all about the content of media, you can't really make a good case why excluding depicting human relationships in a realistic way shouldn't matter, but the color of power armor should.
