2016 US Presidential Election Thread 2 - Always Darkest before Don

I am slightly biased because Donald's responses to the supreme court related questions about Roe v Wade finally made me decide my vote - I'd rather have Hillary in office if that's going to be the case.

That said, I feel like she won the debate, particularly toward the end. What I think is really going to stick out is the impromptu closing statement. Hillary's response was rather cheesy and cliche, but Trump's response to it was just anti-Hillary talk rather than, well, pro-Trump talk. The final words out of the debate are not one of Trump making America great again, but him asserting Hillary should not be elected. A missed opportunity, I feel.

The thing is that she prepared a closing statement, and it shows. It doesn't really seem like he had one prepared. (She's far too seasoned to go into this without one, even without it not being on the schedule.)

Trump started out relatively strong (compared to the last two dumpster fires of a debate performance) and it was clear he had actually practiced debated. But he quickly was baited by Hillary and was a mess by the end.

Trump had to knock this debate out of the park in order to have a chance. But his weak performance have created several choice moments to use in new campaign ads.

As Van Jones said tonight

"You can't polish this turd"

Trump fucked up bad, period. He started off decent enough, then could not keep himself from spazzing out. On top of that, I see "such a nasty woman" and comments on his refusal to answer the question about recognizing the election if he loses really ring out.

Edit: fixed some grammar

I supported that orange genetic freak. What was I thinking?

My position as of now: fuck 'em both.
Yeah... my current plan of survival is to cover the state of Maryland with a dope smoke cloud for the next four years. I'm gonna get started smoking now.

We've also got the advantage that weed is legal in DC. Maybe if our cloud is big enough, President Lizardess will reach for the cheetos instead of the nukes.

Wallace is definitely the best moderator.

7.5/10, would definitely let him stifle laughs at Bernie quotes about Trump again.

rip in peace, Trump.

Did the carpets match the drapes?

Followed. :epik::tomgirl::epik::fapcup:

I actually think the race will narrow coming out of this debate and you'll see Democrats in the White House, split Senate, not ready to say House in play at this point or it'll even get there.

It sounds worse than it actually is. We're the largest economy on Earth. Saying debt payments take up 75% of our GDP (or whatever) sounds horrible. Until you realize that the other 25% of it represents a truly massive amount of money in and of itself.

I gotta say the "entitlements" question really pissed me off for that reason. I'm curious where Chris Wallace was getting his information from (I heard "something something foundation"). He basically said our only option was a "grand bargain" (which is not grand at all) that amounted to massively cutting benefits, as if this is our only option. I wouldn't be surprised if he picked that bullshit up from one of those corporate sponsored think tanks or something. It came off like the sort of simplistic bullshit those types put out. If only because it assumes that the only possible cuts we could ever make to our spending involve shit that helps regular people. How about all those tanks that cost millions each that our military doesn't want but that congress keeps forcing them to buy? Nope, gotta cut welfare....please
