While this last bit is more so about a broader problem that encompasses way more horrid shit than just the phenomenon described above, I would be remiss not to mention it, as it's another significant problem that's heavily affected Generation Z and is currently affecting Generation Alpha, and many believe it to be one of the largest causes of the behavior described above.
The influx of children onto the Internet (following neglectful parents giving their infants iPads to shut them up) has been met by an equally proportioned mobilization of pedophiles seeking to exploit and abuse them. Like many
people dumbfucks in the thread have stated in an attempt to handwave away this thread's concerns, this behavior isn't new or novel.
However, what they (seemingly deliberately) fail to realize is that
the scale of this problem is
completely incomparable to the early Internet, and that the amount of time it's been allowed to operate at this scale is
in and of itself a problem worth addressing, with many believing that
this is what's causing the increasingly noticeable scourge of "ironic" degeneracy and sadism among zoomers.
To rule out some aspect(s) of western culture or century-long glowie conspiracies as primary causes of the phenomenon, look no further than the
Chinese cat torturers: Chinese Telegram groups consisting predominantly of children and people in their early 20's recording and distributing videos of themselves torturing and killing stray cats, even targeting specific cats that had become popular on Chinanet in order to "troll" fans of the cat. Seems to share many similarities to the groups we have in America, yet formed in a completely different culture, largely disconnected from the level of influence that the intel agencies have here. Per Occam's Razor, it's
vastly more likely that the common denominator here (that being the Internet connecting children to pedophiles) is to blame.
