Service dogs have to wear a vest at all times and have an ID its special photo ID. Dogs also need to be microchipped. In Canada in the 2010's it was really easy to get medical papers for your dog. I almost got one for my dog in 2012. Cause until 2 years ago taking your dog on the metro/bus was a 500$ fine. This is just so you can't get thrown out of places, but you'd get that shit taken away if your dog did anything. They changed the law a few years ago because of all the shitheads abusing the system. Its much harder now, before it was legit getting a DR to sign shit filling out paperwork making sure you have all their shots&vet shit. these were NEVER EVER SERVICE/WORKING DOGS THESE ARE MEDICAL SUPPORT DOGS it just means its illegal to tell them to fuck off and hurting the dog will get you in deep legal shit.these fake ESA “service dogs” that attack other people in the elevator and shit in the grocery store ruin it for the actually disabled people who spent a lot of time, money and effort getting an actual service dog. It makes me mad.
They’re kind of like the dog version of yaniv, or maybe it’s just that yaniv-types will choose to keep aggro ESAs.
Also you realize there is like medical dogs that are super playful happy as fuck and hyper. That are brought to old folks homes childrens hospitals etc. Drug dogs are also rather happy/chill and are not like seeing eye dogs/K9. So if you see a pupper wearing a vest that says something on it check its collar it could have a special ID or even an ID card hidden on a slot on the vest. It might not be some asshole abusing the system with their "anxiety needs dog". There is many many types of working doggos they come in all breeds. Another shitbag thing some people might do is wear a logo from an org that trains dogs to get away with taking them in places/doing things. You can tell right away they're not in training/retired call these people out yell and them don't call the cops unless you have to. The dog could get taken to the pound and accidentally end up getting put down this happens all the time, plus the people that work there are insane and hate animals enjoy killing them&beating them.
Just my insight as someone who was gonna ride the system(she was an abused stray I couldn't get all the papers I did not want to get her fixed I found it cruel ironically she hated all male dogs in heat). Who's dog was loved by everyone and super well trained never had to use a lease she'd only go if I said go no matter what. I was asked many times if I wanted to volunteer and do shit with her. F July I miss you its been 5 years <3 almost on the day since you died. I'd love to train dogs for sight/tism/wtv but fuck man giving them away would hurt.
Tl;dr I'm sure the dog was a support dog and he lost the right if it was being chompy to people. And he's using old ID claiming its still legally a support dog. That or he's fucking lazy and never bothered getting the dog reg/couldn't in the first place its different in every province or a vet said no this dog is shit I wont ok this, its not trained at all/is aggressive.
