Because while D&D may have been a haven for awkward and autistic leftists, 40k was a haven for awkward and autistic Roman Catholics and Dissafected Majestiarial protestants who really liked the idea of uncompromising knights errants fighting chaos and a Church that didn't happily invite heresy into its sacred places to score diversity points.
The big problem for such folks is that the people who own 40K do not share your views. Now if right-wing billionaires were to buy enough GW stock, that would change; you could even have a future where they dispense with the satire and outright make the Imperium the anti-heroes that the Catholics and Majesterial Protestants want them to be. But as it stands, GW is a leftist company, partially owned by Blackrock and Vanguard, which are leftist investment firms whose coffers are in the trillions. They lost a trillion dollars in 2022 but that didn't slow them down one bit. So of course, they will lean in heavily on making 40K be more pro-leftist, even if they have to bend the lore to do so.
With the Primaris, they already bent the lore to force SM players to re-buy their armies or get waxed in the game. With the Fem-Custodes change, they're testing the waters for female Space Marines. But so long as the whales keep buying, and the ESG money keeps pouring in, GW won't care about the so-called ''fans'' who barely even play the game to begin with.
Eh, leftoids that are kids all the way to like 40s think this about cop games
Problem is, the Right hates video games more than they do.
I've said it before, and I will doubtless say it a thousand more times, but one of the biggest reasons the left got to run absolutely roughshod over the media as a whole was because of crusty shitheads on the right deeming them fucking unimportant and/or blaming them for all of the world's problems. Dumbfucks like Matt Walsh abandoned them to their fates, denigrated their hobbies, argued their interest in said hobbies was evil, and had the balls to whine about how the left captured them, and are still doing that shit now, decades later, with absolutely no fucking self-awareness.
That's the thing. Even as Gamergate helped shed a light on leftist journo-fuckery, the Right complained that these ''gamers'' should abandon their hobbies and do something more respectable, like working to death for a company that sees them as numbers on a page. The Right abandoned Hollywood, the nerd sphere, and the video game arena to the Left, because they weren't ''respectable'' hobbies. And then they're surprised when the Left consolidates their power with media juggernaut companies controlling things like tabletop games, TV, movies, and video games. If the Left is the snake in the grass, seizing prey whenever it finds the opportunity, the Right is the retarded monkey walking off the plank.
Which of course brings us to the elephant in the room, which is that these hobbies and franchises were perfectly healthy for years despite leftie dominance in the industry, with many even going through their own golden ages during the 1990s and 2000s. None of that would have happened if the left had been exclusively negative at the time; the problem comes in when you realize that the rot seeping through every industry now is entirely a product of the new left, fostered by agitators and effectively equally religious as the dipshit moral majority crowd I used to openly ridicule in my youth. And while a lot of people on the right would argue that the left is inherently this way, there's a reason that this got so far before anyone was able to rally a response in the old guard left.
That's because we were once dealing with the old-guard left that tolerated us so long as we voted against Bush and the Evangelicals. These people had no problems with sexy women on TV and video games, they had no problems with speculative fiction where factions like the Galactic Empire and the Imperium of Man could be argued as the greater good. So long as it subverted the normie ideology of ''good vs. evil'' from the Reagan years in the 1980s, they were OK with it. Let me show you some examples.
In the Star Wars Expanded Universe novels that take place 30-40 years after Return of the Jedi, the New Republic suffers through a Yuuzhan Vong invasion and a Second Galactic Civil War, primarily due to the weakness of its government allowing such threats to become greater than they should be. Which led to some fans arguing that maybe the Galactic Empire was the better option, since Imperial Fleet would've crushed the Vong hard with their larger numbers of larger warships, and the Empire wouldn't have allowed agitators like Thrackan Sal-Solo to fan the flames of separatism and cause a second galaxy-spanning civil war; they'd have killed his ass before he became a major threat. Some fans began to believe that 365 trillion lives would've been spared had the Rebels bowed to Vader and the Emperor instead of attacking them on Endor. The fact that the Vong lost to a weakened New Republic and a tiny remnant of the Empire shows that if the Vong fought the Empire at its full power, the eradication of the Vong would've happened in a fortnight.
In the same vein, the 40K novels between 3rd-7th Edition had fans arguing that despite all its flaws, the Imperium of Man was the greater good against all the Chaos and Alien threats that treat humanity with utmost contempt; Chaos uses humans as cannon fodder and twists their minds and bodies, while most of the aliens shoot, gore, or devour humans on sight. Against such overwhelming evil, the extreme response of the Imperium was to rally around traditions and ideologies that would protect from the corrupting influence of Chaos and ensure alien tampering with human society is struck down before it becomes a problem. So instead of seeing the Imperium as the problem, fans saw them as the solution, which is the exact opposite of what GW's Thatcher-hating writers intended.
But now, we're dealing with the new-guard Left, the Left that goes nuts when kids dress up as Stormtroopers, the Left that is driven mad when they see GW and the 40K fans state that the Space Marines are defenders of mankind. So of course, now they're striking back, trying to either remove the satire and force everyone to hate the Empire, or trying to force their representation in to piss off the chuds. And in the same vein, these same leftists see men liking sexy women in media, and they see that as sexist and want to get rid of it. Words like ''FASCIST MAN BAD'' and ''SEXIST DOLL'' are used by these leftists to attack people who enjoy fiction that doesn't adhere to the new agenda, and now, we're stuck in this rut, where all hobbies have to force in representation even if the lore doesn't agree with it.
In retrospect, this is Leftism eating its own. The second-wave feminists despised trannies, third-wave feminists love trannies and reject older feminists for hating them. Second-wave feminists saw sexy women in media as empowering, third-wave feminists saw them as sexist toys for man-babies to objectify. While the Right sits on its ass and lets everything from video games, to movies/TV, to tabletop gaming get devoured by the Left, the older generation of the Left is getting devoured by the Newer Left, which is more radical in its agendas and wants to push Leftism even further. Even if they have to condemn the things they once used to attack the Right with, so be it.
The old-guard Left had no problems with groups that had all-men or all-women; but the modern Left does have problems with it. That's why you see Custodes becoming female despite the fact that the Sisters of Silence are in essence, female versions of the Custodes with a bonus against enemy psychics. But that was not enough. The idea that there's an all-male group is what pisses them off, and so, they want that barrier broken. And given their LGBTQ leanings, they probably won't have a problem with men becoming Sisters of Silence or Battle either, so long as they identify as female in gender.
