You basically have to be an NPC to comply with Reddits insane content policy. It's the online equivalent of being beaten into submission. It's just absolutely so completely soulless. I realize that propaganda is prevalent on all sides of the Internet but reddit is just a different level. It's like it's designed to torment right wing white people specifically by showing rage bait that everyone pretends is cute and normal. A lot of discord is the same way, but somehow even worse with more rules and content regulation. If you say absolutely anything some nobody will respond "ok except there's a specific channel for that" and you'll have to scroll through a list of dead channels longer than a CVS receipt to make a post that nobody will ever read.

I've been trying to pinpoint where it went wrong. People everywhere went soft at some point after every Tom, Dick, and Harry got a smartphone. The web was no longer for nerds, and rejects. That being said, people were getting soft before that when many homes had a laptop or PC with Internet access. Was it the invention and popularity of social media? I remember when people could make death threats to kids and it would be acceptable. How things have changed

A specific group of SJW-tier fags from SA and elsewhere co-opted the site and it kicked into overdrive around 2016 when Trump was running/got elected. All of these internet places, Reddit and Youtube in particular, had this kind of hands-off policy in regards to a lot of shit. I remember for years you could find random NS stuff on Youtube fairly surface level too. There was a whole channel who had just thousands of videos of songs recorded in the Third Reich, most of them political/regime-oriented. By that point (2016) Reddit had already taken a sledgehammer to the old forum system and most people were getting funneled into the subreddits instead of finding the niche forums that used to exist. After 2016 and all of that, the whole website got heavily sanitized and cleared out of anything that was too out-of-step.
I'd say that it's two things really. It's a sanitization from a corporate perspective since a company - and Reddit and all of these websites are companies - doesn't want to be the one that hosts Nazis on its website, but on another level it's a political house-clearing because it wasn't just the edgy Nazis reposting obscure combat footage from the Wehrmacht it was anything that deviated too far from the "agreed-upon norm."
I don't think it's doing a good enough job though, or maybe the userbase is just fed up with things. You can see people breaking the mould on a lot of the location-specific subreddits like r/canada. It's actually quite remarkable that you can go on r/canada right now and the comments on a lot of these articles are only a stone's throw away from being exactly like something that would've been posted on /pol/ before troon-jannies botted the catalog.

The way reddit is now is completely manufactured and illusory. Just like most of the internet too, without heavy handed corporate and political meddling the internet goes back to everyone being edgy and radical in an instant. When everything is automatically flagged and deleted you just get the potemkin village version with only brainwashed takes and advertising friendly content and discussion. Twitter merely opened it up a bit more and now Musk is reeling it back in because people are calling out jews too much.
