I'll just say this about Bear Sex 3, I feel a PnP RPG experience like DnD is essentially a hodgepodge of Craps and Collaborative Storytelling. Oh and autism lots of autism. The one weekly DnD I actually did was full of edgelord shit and degeneracy, why because we were young dorks wanting to make each other laugh.

My biggest gripe with the game is that I just wish it had been classier, because I will never show that damn game to someone who doesn't "get it", just the fact that they included anatomically correct models is real trashy. But beyond that I just don't care that it's filled with silly degenerate sex and violence. At its best BG3 is very funny and has one of the best combat systems in the whole turn based genre.

Usually, if I'm interested in a game I look for gameplay footage on Youtube or just read the Steam reviews, or just blind buy it. I try to be careful not to buy too many these days, because my backlog is quite large. (Oh, also, I like to wait awhile after games come out now, both for discounts and to find out if there are any hidden problems with them.)

As to Kotaku, people tend to get baited by them and some other sites like The Gamer pretty easily, I think that was where most of their traffic was coming from. However, if that was still a successful strategy, they wouldn't be pivoting to guides.

Ever other D&D game I've played (aka Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR) felt really abstracted from D&D because of how clean and sanitized it was - like it was a D&D game you were playing at work (aka everyone in business attire, very formal, no one wants to get in trouble).

BG3's characters all feel like the kind of awful characters you'd find playing D&D at home/in a comic shop - the mage who had sex with a god and kind of got bored with it, a sad sparkly vampire, the angry but sensitive barbarian, the warlock who didn't really read the contract all that well, the cleric who worships an evil god (and was tricked!), and so on.

The only thing I wish BG3 had as a single completely normal character as a contrast (a professional soldier, no gimmicks, no tragic backstory) to all of the nonsense going on around them.

Yeah you pretty much summed up why I'll defend the game. I dunno maybe I'm just a prude but I just really wish we could go back to games being politely censored that you can then just turn on and off to your desire. If I remember correctly BG3 does do that and I wanted to see boobies (because boobies) but I just don't want dicks!

And btw my first DnD character was a cannibal. Any corpse he could find he'd have to try to eat. Why because it made me laugh to have the DM have to put it into the story.
