It always bums me out when I can't really boycott something because it sucks so much I would never have bought it in the first place, with or without wokeshit in it.

Honestly, I'm getting too old for this shit. I mean, we all are in a way, but I've just come to terms with the fact that a lot of modern gaming isn't really for me, so I've kind of stayed away from the lot of it. Tekken 8 was gifted to me by a friend, and the only game I've bought out of 2024 (so far) is Helldivers II. I'm just playing the games I already have and buying a lot of older titles when they go on heavy sale. I don't even recognize what the gaming industry even is anymore. There's so much content out there now, it's hard to keep track of it all.

I have that problem going through my media library. I'll scroll, and scroll trying to find something to watch, and eventually just decide to going back to watching random shit on Youtube. Having access to a lot of content is a double edged sword. With games, I'm kind of the same way. I'll scroll, and just eventually decide "fuck it", and play an older Genesis game like Tecmo Super Bowl, or Road Rash. Games that actually meant something to me as a kid.

It's sad, bro, and it sucks. I've become so apathetic towards entertainment at this point I can't even enjoy things I like anymore because I'm often reminded what we had. I hate this feeling.

I see the woke shit in bg3 but the based mods and player choice fix most of those. I've beaten it twice and my first run was dark urge and I literally killed everyone.

It's a threshold thing. I can tolerate a certain level of woke in Japanese media (androgynous characters and their shenanigans for example) since for the most part, it's stuff they were doing already, just that before it was weird nippon quirkiness and now it's "REPRESENTATION". With western media on the other hand I'm incredibly hard line at the moment, slightest whiff of it and I'm out. I do have a soft spot for shit that was woke before I got to this stage, it's how I can play Deltarune even though the more chapters go, the more pozzed it will be. I can also do exceptions if enough word of mouth is in the air which could apply to BG3, though with that game, outside of the woke, is how I'm not that much of a fan of the genre in general, so not saying I will never play it, but it's pretty low in my gigantic to do list.

Pretty much this, or "soft woke", I've become stupidly aware of this shit to the point that I can see it in entertainment from the 90s. Ever other D&D game I've played (aka Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR) felt really abstracted from D&D because of how clean and sanitized it was - like it was a D&D game you were playing at work (aka everyone in business attire, very formal, no one wants to get in trouble).

BG3's characters all feel like the kind of awful characters you'd find playing D&D at home/in a comic shop - the mage who had sex with a god and kind of got bored with it, a sad sparkly vampire, the angry but sensitive barbarian, the warlock who didn't really read the contract all that well, the cleric who worships an evil god (and was tricked!), and so on.

The only thing I wish BG3 had as a single completely normal character as a contrast (a professional soldier, no gimmicks, no tragic backstory) to all of the nonsense going on around them.

This seems insane to me. Propaganda is never this subtle, and seems to be an insanely long game to play, especially since many of said 90s properties are/were "based". eg. If Tomb Raider was created with the intention of pushing propaganda, why does it have to be censored so heavily in the modern day? Why didn't Nintendo jump on the bandwagon when people were trying to say Samus was trans, etc.
