I have to deal with a couple boomers in my day-to-day and it's distressing to me to see how brainwashed they are regarding Trump at this point. I'd gotten used to the incoherent rage but it's an entirely different sort of upsetting to hear people twice my age giggling like six-year-olds at this recent thing with him maybe? farting in a courtroom and trying to convey this information to me like they were passing secrets at recess. It would be weird and kinda funny if it was just one guy but I've heard it from at least three at this point. It reminds me of religious fanaticism.

For real though, one so far this year, and at least one last year. Tweakers trying to loot and sell scrap copper is a real thing where I live. I don't remember the specifics but a large transformer blew and tweakers somehow managed to loot the PG&E crew truck during the replacement and made off with some of their service gear. Scheduled outage of an hour turned into a day.

Facebook has hit like a plague for Boomers/normies. Smartphones as addictive tech should be strictly regulated to operate only as phone, messaging, finance, and weather. No web browser, no social apps allowed. That needs to be law already.

As much as I agree with the general sentiment, legislating peoples ability to do things and share ideas away from them is whats gotten us half into the shit in the first place, and we know it never, ever works out well. The fact is these people are vapid idiots addicted to literally the most bottom barrel forms of entertainment, with no self control or evidently self respect. Crippling smart devices won't fix those people, but it'll fuck over a lot of other folks.

Braindead social media addicts are a plague on our civilizations, but the root of the sickness is them, not the device.

To the boomer, the Television is a primary sensory organ. These people are addicted to it at a systemic, almost physiological level. They will have the television on without even paying attention because the noise and light from it has become a intrinsic part of how they live their lives.

It might have made sense when the retirement age was the same as average life expectancy and the nation was full of young people, but now it is a complete unsustainable system. And it doesn't matter how much you explain it, people won't accept change because they were promised money and they want the money.

People also think the money that goes in is theirs to some extent and that they'll 'get it back' at some point. You cancel social security and tell someone in their mid 50's that they tossed away 30+ years of social security taxes with absolutely nothing to show for it and you get people ready to riot.

There's also the issue where they were forced by the federal government to pay into a pyramid scheme from the first day they worked. There was no option for any person that worked and the cash could have gone a lot farther for the average person if they had been allowed to put it into a 401k.

Hence why I do not believe I am going to see my SSI Benefits, I think that problem hits a head before I hit retirement age.

White House weighs immigration relief for spouses of US citizens​


The White House is weighing ways to provide temporary legal status and work permits to immigrants in the U.S. illegally who are married to American citizens, three sources familiar with the matter said on Monday, a move that could energize some Democrats ahead of the November elections.

Democratic lawmakers and advocacy groups have pressured Democratic President Joe Biden to take steps to protect immigrants in the country illegally as Biden simultaneously considers executive actions to reduce illegal border crossings.

Immigration has emerged as a top voter concern, especially among Republicans ahead of the Nov. 5 election pitting Biden against his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump. Trump has said Biden's less restrictive policies have led to a rise in illegal immigration.

The White House in recent months has considered the possibility of executive actions to block migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border if illegal crossings reach a certain threshold, sparking criticism from some Democrats and advocates.

The Biden administration also has examined the possible use of "parole in place" for spouses of U.S. citizens, the sources said, requesting anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

The temporary status would provide access to work permits and potentially a path to citizenship. No actions are imminent or finalized, the sources said.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the possible moves. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

An estimated 1.1 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally are married to U.S. citizens, data by advocacy organization FWD.us shows.

A group of 86 Democrats sent a letter to Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas last year urging them to protect spouses of U.S. citizens and create a family reunification process for those outside the country.

President Joe Biden on Monday will celebrate Earth Day by announcing $7 billion in grants for residential solar projects that will power nearly a million low-income households, the White House said.

The announcement kicks off a week of activities aimed at touting the Biden administration's record on climate change.

Biden will reveal the funding during a trip to Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia, where he will also announce that applications are open to join the American Climate Corps, a program to prepare young people for jobs in climate-related industries.

Young voters, who tend to be more concerned about climate change, are a key constituency for Biden, a Democrat, as he prepares to face former President Donald Trump, a Republican, in the November presidential election.

The $7 billion of solar funding through the Environmental Protection Agency's Solar for All grant competition was included in Biden's landmark climate change law, the Inflation Reduction Act. It will create 200,000 jobs and save households in the program about $400 a year, according to the White House.

Grant recipients include 60 state and local agencies and non-profits with programs to help residents in poor communities go solar and save on their power bills. The winners include several organizations with plans to provide solar to native American households in states including Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.

Residential solar has long been regarded as difficult to access for lower-income Americans because of its high upfront cost and because less affluent people tend to rent their homes or live in apartment buildings.

The program is aligned with Biden's goal to direct 40% of federal clean energy investment benefits to disadvantaged communities.

"We're opening up a market where everybody, no matter their zip code or their economic background can tap into the savings opportunity that clean energy represents," a senior administration official said on a call with reporters on Friday.

Biden will also announce that his American Climate Corps will launch a web site, ClimateCorps.gov, where applicants will be able to see 2,000 open positions in 36 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.

The program's first class will start in June.

The Climate Corps aims to put more than 20,000 young people to work by training them, for example, to install solar panels, operate LiDAR cameras that detect methane emissions and restore mangrove ecosystems, the White House said.

I am so goddamn sick and tired of the Religious Right deepthroating Israel because they want to escape from having to live life. They're completely ignoring the part of the Bible where it clearly states that no person can know the hour of that return, and yet there's churches that still obsess about those end times because they want their reward now now NOW like goddamned Chris-chan.
