@Surprised Pikachu to echo what @Random Internet Person said, don't feel bad for Salah.
I've said it before here, as the only boy of a learned professor his family probably had great hopes for him given their cultural norms. They likely would have taken opportunities from his sister if necessary to fund his needs and education. But, Salah, whether because of an actual learning disability (he does seem slow not making a retard joke, he really does seem slow) or over indulgence/coddling, or degeneracy, or all of the above is a dud. At least as far as kids go in brown families.
Feel how you will about immigrants, but my experience is brown Canadians whether Muslim, Jane, Hindu, or Sikh, work hard and expect hard work from their kids. High scholastic achievement is expected not rewarded (where is the other 5%? How come you only got 95%?), as is social advancement (even if that means you are the first person to finish high school and get a retail job...advancement is advancement depending on where your family started).
Salah likely could have done better for himself even with the limitations being Syrian in Kuwait placed on him. Had he applied himself to something, anything, to the best of ability.
Hell, even if he'd been trapped in retail if he acted as a good Muslim and son/brother he would have his family's respect and his peers' admiration (those equally trapped in his social strata).
But dude is clearly a lazy, entitled, arrogant, shit monger. If he wasn't he wouldn't get on the way he does online, he wouldn't entertain a relationship with Chantal, he wouldn't claim to be a three time trophy winner in ka-rah-tay (or whatever the fuck Dane Cook of martial arts as Archer called it) he claims to be proficient in.
Salah found Chantal because they are the same sort of shite people. They could have had decent lives if they made the best of what genetics and circumstance doled out to them. "Life gave me lemons, but I made lemonade". -Jay Z's mom
But no, they both think they are entitled to wealth, fame, and accolades with little to no effort. I'd bet any money Salah takes constructive criticism or any attempt at guidance from an authority figure as poorly as Chantal does.
I say let them rot together.
