That's awesome man. I know it is a meme, the 99% of Gamblers quit too early, but it is applicable to real life. I've been offered jobs I was not qualified for simply because of my personality and willing eagerness to learn. Networking is going to be even more important now more than the past. With all the AI generated resumes, HR going out of control, etc. I think people really could and should move back to a word of mouth hiring process. A lot of contract jobs in my area work that way, slip up once, good luck getting hired again.

Due to impending layoffs, I'm now playing the "drink a fifth of whiskey and apply to every remote job in the entire country" game.

The crazy shit is that I don't think this is actually because of the economy. It's like the other party in a semi-recent merger is just gutting the entire North America division for short term stock gains. Many such cases.

inherent ability to learn skills and willingness to learn them are only going to become more valuable to employers who still actually know what the fuck they're doing as education declines in general. churning out more and more adults who don't know anything and are emotionally disinclined to learn anything

I was listening to RFK Jr. talking about the use of blockchain to allow the US citizens access to how the US is using money. Got me thinking about 2017-2021 where I remember during some time between those years reading that SSN could be replaced with a unique blockchain key. I believe that if we converted to something along those lines we could solve the growing problem of identity theft, SSN are pretty much meaningless now, as well as allow an alternative method for say voting from your home with a verification step (like a physical key, I forget what that tech is called). What are the logistics if implemented (What sort of infrastructure, etc.), what are the pros and cons? Maybe, heck, introduce a grand fathered option like a generational phase out of technology.

I've heard some people who sound like they know what they're talking about talk a lot about how blockchain will also be good for voting to replace regular ballots because blockchain reasons.

It's a great metaphor to describe how the rest of the country is going. Just like our infrastructure, political system, financial markets, it's run down and decrepit. Infrastructure is collapsing because we send billions to other countries to subsidize their military and civilian infrastructure, when we're not appropriating approx. $3.5B for gibsmedat earmarked to the illegal aliens we make no attempt to stop when they're invading our country.

Our political system is abused at every turn to benefit the creation and maintenance of capital, dicks get sucked under tables, Boeing gets to run a shitty operation that certifies aircraft that literally fucking come apart in-flight and the IRS exists to essentially rob the few workers left to pay for it all while providing ineffectual to nonexistent public services while simultaneously forcing those workers to subsidize a social welfare and retirement program that anyone working today won't be able to collect on because the system will fucking collapse long before that happens, or the rules are retroactively rewritten to keep the grift money flowing for as long as possible.

The financial markets are strung out on enough false promises, fake news to keep asset classes artificially inflated to benefit people that actually manage to acquire capital to invest, just like Biden is injected with enough uppers to at least pretend like he's at least somewhat consciously aware of his surroundings. If the economy is so great, why are all of the reports either initially incorrect or doctored to exclude the shit people actually care about? Why does the Fed have to molest the capital markets harder and more frequently than Biden molests children?
