It's actually surprising how recoverable spinal injuries are. Way more than generic back injuries, apparently. Just in the past two years, two different members of my family have broken their spines and both have totally recovered after surgery. So long as the spinal cord itself isn't severed, it seems you can be back on your feet very quickly.

In fact, my obese, 80-something cousin was able to walk and drive to the hospital after breaking his spine. He had paralyzed his diaphragm and had trouble breathing, and thought he was having a heart attack. He didn't even remember falling out of bed that morning and had no idea his spine was broken.

Given the way she dropped into that ballpit, I figure Adriana just broke her tailbone, not her upper spine. While very painful, it shouldn't result in paralysis. Most broken tailbones don't even need surgery, just rest and physical therapy. You mostly get swelling, which can cause some sciatic pain if the swelling pinches the sciatic nerve. The main risk is, IIRC, some of the bladder nerves are connected there, so you might develop incontinence if something is severed. Bladder injuries really suck, but given her line of work, I'd be shocked if she wasn't already wearing depends anyway.
